Sprinter Samuels Stays Hot This Winter
|
|
If they handed out Comeback
of the Year Awards for high
school athletes, J-Mee
Samuels would have been
last year’s leading
contender. Samuels is a top
entry in both sprint events
at the National Scholastic
Sports Foundation’s Nike
Indoor Classic, March 12-13
in Landover, Maryland.
One of the nation’s top
preps his freshman and
sophomore years at Mount
Tabor High School in
Winston-Salem, North
Carolina, Samuels dropped
off the radar screen last
spring. “J-Mee was
ineligible for us after an
incident with another
student last year,” said
Mount Tabor coach Mike
Esposito, choosing not to
elaborate. “He made a
mistake, and he paid the
price.”
