An Important Message from the WNEC

Hi everyone,

We just wanted to give everyone some information about the Western Newfoundland Equestrian Club to date.

Humber Valley Horse Show - For the past ten years the show has been funded by the Grand Lake Centre of Economic Development The horse show committee organized the event. The cost to run a show is a significant amount of approximately $2000.00, not to mention all the time and hard work it takes to put off a horse show. This year however there is no funding, so rather than let the horse show die, the WNEC decided to take on the huge task of fundraising so the show can continue. The continued success of the annual horse show rely heavily on the support of current and new members.

Membership in the NEA and the WNEC will be mandatory for horse show participants, due to insurance reasons. Don’t forget membership in the NEA gives you insurance coverage. Check out their website for more information. (www.horsenewfoundland.com/.)

On your behalf the board has taken the steps to become incorporated, as well as securing insurance for the club for any activities we may have. So far we have incurred expenses in excess of $1440.00. This includes the incorporation fee, insurance and flight for the judge.

We are hoping to plan many different events for this year, including a trail ride, open barn day, educational videos, barbecue and much more. The board is committed to working together to build up the club, but without the support of the horse community this will not work. Together we can make this club work.
