After reading Samuel's last will and testement, I could not help but wonder why Allen's name was never mentioned.

Maybe because he Allen, enlisted in the Confederate Infantry, or because he married his cousin Amanda against his father's will.
Shortly after he married in 1872 he and his family moved to Kansas. This is where he stayed, and his children were born and raised there. Although he died in Kansas City, Mo, it was one of the larger cities near Hartfort.

Our census records and service records show us that he was surely the son of Samuel and Amanda Hurst. Many of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were born and raised in Kansas. They also had a great school for the deaf which his son William F. Hurst attended and met his wife Crystal Lowman.
