Emory P. Gause married Caroline Gardner (b. ca. 1837 in Georgia) and had ten children:

**It can be assumed that around 1870, they must have moved to Mississippi, due to the fact that their last three children are stated to have been born there. In the 1880 United States Census for Texas, June 8, 1880, Emery and Caroline are found living in Red River county, Precinct #2.

Along with them are seven of their children: Henry C., Josie E., Olan B., Bille V., Fannie R., Joe F., and John W.  At that time, Emery stated his occupation to be that of a farmer.  His sons and daughter, Henry, Josie, Olan B., and John W., are listed as laborers.
