THE HOUSE ON MILLER ST. |
THIS IS WHERE WE ALL GOT TOGETHER FOR OUR "FIRST" FAMILY HUGS, PHOTOS, DINNER, BEACH FUN AND FIREWORKS. THIS BIG THREE STORY HOUSE WAS "ALMOST" BIG ENOUGH! ALTHOUGH IT WAS UNFURNISHED AND UNFINISHED, IT WAS FULL OF LAUGHTER, LOVE AND HEARTFELT JOY! THIS LITTLE TOWN HAS RESERVATIONS FILLED A YEAR IN ADVANCE FOR THE ROOMS AND HOUSES ON THE FOURTH OF JULY. BUT THANKS TO DOROTHY AND HER SON, JIMMY WHO WERE ABLE TO GET IT IN SHAPE FOR A VERY SPECIAL FAMILY "UNION", WE GOT A PLACE BIG ENOUGH, AT THE LAST MINUTE. FOR WE HAD ONLY FOUND EACH OTHER THE LAST DAY OF "MAY" (THRU THE INTERNET) AND NOW WE WERE GOING TO ALL MEET AT LAST. JIMMY HAD THE WALLS TAKEN APART AND WAS ORDERING NEW WINDOWS, BUT HE AND HIS MOM RUSHED AROUND AND GOT IT TOGETHER FOR US. NEW WINDOWS AND WALLS, FLOORS AND MORE, JUST IN TIME TOO. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY "THANK YOU" TO BOTH HIM AND HIS MOM. SOME OF US HAD MADE COMMITMENTS FOR THE PARADE AND THE AUCTION AFTER AND SOME FOOD STANDS. THE FOURTH WAS SO BUSY AND A BEAUTIFUL DAY TOO. WE HAD BARB-B-QUES, BEACH FUN, A NATURE WALK TO A GIANT SPRUSE TREE, BEAUTIFUL FIREWORKS AND WATCHED OUR HOME VIDEOS IN THE EVENING. THIS WAS A WEEKEND THAT NONE OF US WANTED TO END. WE WILL ALL KKEP IN TOUCH AND THE FAMILIES WILL GET TOGETHER AT LEAST ONCE EVERY YEAR. |
"After 30 years of wondering, and several years of searching, thanks to roots.com, the endless hard work of my Aunt Laura and my sisters gift of love to find my family, my dream finally came true. You see, I had never meet my father, only had a few old photo's of him growing up. My sister posted a message on the message board, and someone responded knowing of a website that had my fathers name on it. It was my Aunt Laura's wonderful site. I went from knowing nothing at all about my family, to having so much information at once, all I could do was cry with relief and joy. I found so much more than the father I had thought about for 30 years. I had 10 Aunts and Uncles, many cousins, a Grandmother with a heart of gold, and best of all, I had a brother who lived right in my own city who was just 7 months younger than myself. After being linked together by Aunt Laura, my brother and I meet, and it was one of the happiest days of my life. I then found out I also had a sister in Idaho. I was so besides myself with joy, I couldn't wait to meet her, and all the Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and my dear Grandmother. We had a reunion, or as I would call it a Union, this 4th of July. I can NOT thank Roots enough for the joy and fullness they have helped bring me. I hope you understand how important your website is for those of us searching for that missing piece(s) in our life's. And to everyone who takes the time to make such wonderful websites, full of information, family tree's, etc. your work is never in vain, somewhere out there, there is a person such as myself searching.. and I hope they too find what they are looking for."
