Documents found on James Whitis Bullock have been very
contradictive regarding when he was born and where.

According to George L. Crocket; in his book "TWO CENTURIES
IN TEXAS" we find James Whitis Bullock a native of
Georgia, yet born in North Carolina. This book also states
he was married to Nancy Horton and was born in the year 1788.

On July 20th 2002, I recieved a letter from the
Texas Library in
Austin, Texas. Enclosed I found a military record and "The
First Census of Texas". These Items are scanned and attached to
my next pages. But they state James was born in North Carolina
and their census records make his birth in the year 1795.

These census also show the ages of the children and Nancy. If these
census were taken in 1835 then the ages of the children would
be the same as I have found on other documents.  The ages of Nancy
and of James would show them a little younger, but VERY close.

This would mean that James Whitis Bullock would have been about
17 years old when he fought in the W
ar of 1812.

Wade Cockburn has a Roots site:
This site states that info from 1850 census has
James W. Bullock  about 62 yrs old at that time.
We are looking for a copy of those census records next. As Wade's site appears to be very thorough. He has done a lot of research.
