                 A Pups Life
When a pup is born he/she has just come out of being inside his/her mother for 63 days. Pups are born helpless, blind, and death. But they have a keen sense of smell. The pups are completly dependent on their mother
(Alpha Female) and the other pack members. Pups are born in litters. Each litter can have anywhere from 2 to as many as 6 pups in a litter. The whole pack raises the pups. The non breeding females produce milk, other members feed the mother, and anyone in the pack can be a babysitter.

Pups are born in a Den. A Den can be a cave or a hole in the ground. Usually its a hole in the ground dug by the alpha female. The Den is important because it shelters the mother and pups from the weather and from other animals that might want to hurt the pups.

Pups main enamies are Bears and Golden eagles. Around 12-15 days of age the pups begin to open their eyes. At 2 weeks of age the pups can walk. At 3 weeks of age the pups begin to explore their Den. About 4 weeks of age the pups begin to eat meat and explore more outside of their Den. At 6 weeks of age the pups start to travel around the terratory. At 12 weeks of age the pups begin to travel with the pack on hunts(but they don't begin to hunt yet) Between 15-28 weeks  of age the pups lose their milk teeth. And when the pups are 7-8 months of age they begin to hunt with the pack.

Wolves prey/hunt on Elk, Moose, Deer, Bison, Caribou, and smaller animals like rabbits. But wolves prefer to prey onCaribou because its not  that hard to kill like a Moose or Bison and its not as fast as a Deer or a Elk. and the caribou fill the wolves more then a rabbit.
(don't you agree?) Wolves need 3-10 pounds of meat a day. So lets just say they need about 5 pounds of meat a day to survive. The Haviest wolf ever recored was 175 pounds. (Wow, thats alot)

                      The alpha's in the pack
(Alpha Male and Alpha Female) keep their tails up high to show that they have a higher ranking. While the low ranking wolves in the pack submit to the alpha's by keeping there tails low and sometimes even between their legs. The lowest ranking wolf in a pack will roll right under one of the alpha's and lay on it's back to show the alpha he/she submits to them.
