Run Through the Jungle: An Author's Journal. |
11/1/2005 Finally got around to putting the first few pages of my Werewolf Fanfic online. It'll probably be slow going, not only because of work and other commitments, but that I'm also preparing to run this storyline as a game as I write this. I'm not sure if the story will change as a result of the game, or vice-versa. Honestly, I've never run a game like this, and neither has anyone I've contacted. White Wolf (c) doesn't make background rules for this scenario, so I've had to fudge a few things as I went; I'm sure the purists out there will notice. Unless it's constructive criticism, don't bother to write me; I don't care. Why Vietnam? Well, the whole idea started when a freind (now deceased) told me a story about his days as a Black Op in 'Nam. At the time I kinda nodded politely and chalked it up to the lukemia ( FYI, it was traced to the Agent Orange, a chemical defoliant used heavily in Vietnam during the war). Later, though, the images from the story stayed in my head, and I wrote them down. Gradually, his story became the prologue for the story you're reading today, with few changes (in his story, only one person vanished, not the whole platoon). That, and I thought it would be a fun story... a pack of young werewolves from the States, thrown into the jungle, facing Vietcong and US soldiers, with Fomori and Banes on both sides... what fun! I won't mention the name of the man who inspired this story, just in case his black op stories had more truth to them than I thought... but I will thank him, not only for the inpiration, but for the sacrifice he made for our country. It may have taken a while, but he made the ultimate sacrifice, and he earned his rest. Special thanks also to all who were there, especially those who were willing to help me out with the technical details. Your first-hand experience is invaluable. Enjoy the story. Moonchylde 05' |
