What's an RPG?

An RPG (Role Play Game) is a game in which you play the role of a certain creature, whether it be a wolf, horse, human, or something else, depending on what the theme of that RPG is.

RPGs are not only fun, but they are quite amazingly educational. They force the player to think, to see things through the eyes of something they are not, and to stretch your writing and creativity to their very limits. All this leads to the following: Better literary and creative skills. To play, you have to type everything out--actions, spoken words, and thoughts--and you have to be quick to react to the situations and dilemmas thrown at your character. Of course, you have to react not as you would react, but as your character would.

But, of course, the more obvious purpose for RPGs is the simplest--They're fun! They're a great way to escape from the stresses of reality and just relax in an imaginary world full of possibilities and magic.

Most internet based RPGs are played out on bulletin boards, but there are those few RPGs here and there that play out their stories on chat programs or even on guestbook forums!
