MLS rantings...
Here's some work I did in 2003 when I had been in England for a while and gotten used to the "right" way of doing things.  Most of this got fixed by MLS, even the fact that they now list home teams first (thought they still list standings in wins-loss-draws instead of wins-draws-losses)!

Basically, this boils down to the fact that I was excited about the new season until I remembered that MLS still don't play football.  For example, there is still some silly overtime at the end of tied games, so that one team still as the chance of robbing the other of a point earned after 90 minutes.  Yeah, sure, it's okay if you are on the robbing side, but...

So, what am I going to do about it?  Well, I'll just list the results and standings here in the right way.  And I'll try to keep the OT out of it.  Oh, and that reminds me, I'll do it all in one table--no "conference" nonesense...(though I admit, it only makes sense with the scheduling/travelling issues)
Without overtime, the table would look like this:

Revised Table (October 5)
               P    W     D   L     F   A      Pts
Chicago   29   14     9    6     50  37    51  (1 OT Win, 2 points/1 GF deducted)
San Jose  29   14     8    7     44  34    50
DC Utd    29   10    13   6     37  30    42   (5 OT losses, 5 points added, 5 GA deducted)
Rev         29     9    12   8     48   44   39  (2 OT win, 1 OT loss, 3 point/2 GF/1 GA deducted)
Colorado  29   10    8   11     36   41   38   (1 OT win, 2 points/1 GF deducted)
KC          29     9    10   10    45   43   37   (2 OT win, 4 points/2 GF deducted)
Metros    29      8    13   8    35   34    37  (3 OT wins, 1 OT loss, 5 points/3 GF/1GA  deducted)
Crew       29     8   12    9    37   37   36   (1 OT Win, 3 OT losses, 1 point added, 1GF/3 GA deducted)
LA           29    7   11   11    32  33    32  (2 OT win, 1 Loss, 3 points/2 GF/1 GA deducted)
Dallas      29     5   6    17     30   59   21   (1 OT loss, 1 point added, 1 GA deducted)

So, you can see that the Metros slide down the table, and DC jumps up, but other than that the distribution is fairly even.  So what, then, is the point of making them play an extra ten minutes.  The Revs late equalizer on Saturday would have been a great story, except that Carlos Ruiz (of course) ruined it by scoring in OT and cancelling out 80 minutes work!
But then, Wolyniec's goal was worth seeing...

Actual Table (October 5)

Rev         29    11   9    9     50   45   42
Metros    29    11    9   9    36   35    42
KC          29    11    8   10   47   43   41
Colorado  29   11    7  11    37   41   40
