NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS September 5, 2005 - I think it's been two years since I updated this, and not a great one for Parma. We did manage to avoid relegation in a playoff with Bologna, and we did find a new owner, and we got plenty of money from selling Gilardino, but who knows now what the future will bring. We still have some great young players, and hopefully Corradi will continue our tradition of 20-goal scorers. I post my thoughts on BigSoccer.com now. Ciao! August 24 - Hallo again, imaginary Parma-blog readers. The new season is coming up soon, and we've lost and gained a few faces. I'm sure you've read all about it elsewhere (www.soccereage.com, parma.soccerage.com, etc). I just wanted to post a site that I found that links to me! Bookmark it! Ciao! May 25 - UEFA Cup football is ours! We finish in 5th place, making this our 13th straight season in Europe. We beat Piacenza 3-2 and Empoli 2-0 to end the season, while Chievo dropped out of Europe. Huzzah! Now, the Calciomercato and we see what happens to our talented and promising team. I hope Appiah returns and everybody else stays. We also have new young star in this Rosina kid--he took Nakata's place! May 10 - INTER 1-1 PARMA. A good result at other times, but today it allowed Udinese to catch us on 50 points, so we have to make sure we get a result from Piacenza's visit, or we may not even see the UEFA cup! Roma are also coming on strong, and Chievo have left us behind, so we have to win next week. May 6 - PARMA 1-2 BOLOGNA. I hate Bologna, because they always beat us. Udinese, Roma and Chievo also won. And Cardone broke his leg. All in all, not a good day for the gialloblu. April 17 - REGGINA 0-0 PARMA - Frustration! Again we fail to beat a "lesser" team, but Reggina aren't that bad, really. Lazio and Chievo also drew, but Roma won. Milan lost, so if we had won, we could be catching them (somehow I favor Lazio over Milan right now, I don't know when that started--probably when Rivaldo and Pippo Inzaghi joined the rossoneri...). April 20 - PARMA 1-0 TORINO It took a penalty to beat Toro, and everybody else won, so no change this week. All of us went ahead at roughly the same time, too--Chievo, Lazio and us, while Udi won late. We cold have gained ground, but all we did was get closer to Milan and farther from Brescia and Bologna, which doesn't do much for us. Next week, we have to beat Reggina away, and then we may make progress... April 13 - ROMA 2-1 PARMA Another close away loss, and after we took the lead, too. Oh well, next week is Torino, so hopefully we can get back on track. Unless Lazio completely nose-dive, I can't see us in the CL next year. But, we're still pretty solidly in 5th. I'm still not sure Carone is a better centre-half than Bonera... April 9 - PARMA 1-0 AC MILAN! Adriano shoots down Milan to end their title hopes and keep our CL dreams alive. We are still 3 points below Lazio, but Chievos win over Udinese has left us 6 points clear of the Friuli zebras, and therefore relatively safe in the UEFA cup zone. But, were aiming higher! Roma next! March 24 - TWO BIG BIG WINS and we're in 5th! Unbelievable stuff! 4-0 at Chievo, then 2-1 against Lazio. If we keep playing like this we might even catch them and win a Champions League place! Next week it's Milan, though, so we'll have to be good. FORZA PARMA! March 9 - Well, at least we didn't loose, right? And we kept a clean sheet for the first time in ages, though even Adriano's wonderstrike couldn't break the 0-0, met by Taibi's wonder-save. We do move up to six by virtue of much better goal difference to Udinese--unlucky to loose to Juve today. Roma, Bologna and Perugia all failed to win in a weekend of draws, so in all we gain ground--if only a little. At least we didn't loose any! Mar 2 - Missed our big chance! 1-1 is a poor result against Modena at home, and means we stay behind Udinese, while Roma and Bologna make up ground. Bonnazoli schored an important goal for us, though, for Reggina against Udinese, to begin a 3-2 win for his temporary team. Keeps us close to the Zebras, but we should be above them... next week, away to Atalanta, who almost beat AC Milan in the San Siro... Feb 23 - 2-1 away over Perugia! A great result, because it takes us away from Roma and Bologna, and back on pace with a speeding Udinese. Cheivo and even Lazio aren't that far, but we have a big struggle ahead against all the sides around us. These are three big points for us, and away from home, too. Newly-yellow-haired Adriano and Ferrari scored. I'm not sure we dominated, but we held out. Next week, Modena--let's get some revenge for our loss last autumn, eh? Bologna and Udinese both have tough ties, so, here's a chance... Feb 17 - 1-2 at home to Juve. Di Vaio scored against us. Frey had a bad game, as did Adriano. Shame. Fortunately, nobody else around us won. We just aren't up there with Juve this year. Too bad we didn't beat them in Turin back in September or whenever it was... |
