Maugorzata (Maggie) and John

Maugorzata is a coming seven year old grey and white Pinto and 15/16 Arabian. She came to early last fall a nervous, for all practical purposes unhandled mare. This picture was taken the second day she was here; you can see the uncertainty in her expression and posture.

Fortunately, we had just discovered clicker training--and Maggie is an unusually intelligent horse. She had worn the blue halter you see in these pictures for a very long time. Using the clicker, we were able to remove it and replace it again when needed after only two training sessions! And she was leadable within a few short days.

She has continued to make great and steady progress and today instead of racing away, she's the first to come and meet us at the fence. I dream of one day making Maggie my personal riding horse; quite a step for a human and a horse both needing to overcome fear issues!

She is named Maugorzata after my Internet friend, Polish horse artist Margareth Swiertok.

Maugorzata is 'Margaret' in Polish. Please click HERE to view my friend Margareth's breathtaking horse art!

by her smile
that she knows she's
