| This is a page dedicated to another one of my favorite animals, the horse. Horses are part of a genus( group) called Equus. Horses ancestors have been around for millions of years . Horses decended from two groups, hot bloods from the south and cold bloods from the north. Cold bloods are like the draft horses. Hot bloods are more like the Arabs. A mix of a hot blood and a cold blood is a warm blooded horse.Horses live in large family groups called herds. The Spanish where some of the first people to tame the horse. The first horse that was also the starting point for al breeds was the Arabian. The Spanish brought the horses from Spain to America. Some of these horses escaped and became known as the Mesto or Mustang. Native Americans began to tame these now wild horses. The Native Americans favorites were the "colored" horses such as the appaloosa and pinto.Wild horses live Australia Asia Africa and North America. Today horses are used from circus acts to rodeos to farming and even helping disabled people. Egyptians and other people in the Saudia Arabia area first bred the Arabians.There are many types of Arabian but the Egyptian is the oldest.The Spanissh breed is very old to.The Arabian though is the first Real horse. Horses come in many different colors. There is no such thing as a white horse unless it is Albino or Perlino. If it is not Albino the horses color is called grey. Some colors are : blood bay, red bay, black bay, bright bay, sorrel, Gray, flea bitten gray, steel gray, dappled gray, chestnut, liver chestnut, paint( there are many types of paint and Appaloosa to many to list here.) appaloosa, brown, black, palomino, dun, paso, cream, red roan, blue roan, and piebald.
