Wolf song, poetry,and sayings
On the eastern edge
Wolf the hunter has come out.
With glittering paint
With white head feather tip waving.

He has gone
Bravely I will go
To get the spruce,
Acuiring blessings.

Acoma Hunt Song
On the ragged edge of the world
I'll roam
And the home of the wolf
Will be my home

SONG OF A CHEYENNE SCOUT
Wolf I am                   everything
In darkness                   will be good
In light                         because Maheo
whenever I search         protect us
wherever I run
Ea ea ea ho.
Wherever I stand

SANTEE SIOUX SONG
At day break I roam
ready to tear up the world
I roam

At day break I roam
shivers coming up my spine
I roam

At day break I roam
awake to who is following
I roam

At day break I roam
eyes in the back of my head
I roam

sung by Weasel Bear, comparing himself to a wolf to warn young men of the dabgers they feared
The Chase

We Rustled through the leaves like the wind,
Left shrubs and trees and wolves behind;
By night I heard them on the track,
Their troop came hard uponour backs ,
With their long gallop wich can tire
The hounds deep note and hunter's fire :
Where'er we flew they followed on,
Nor left us with the morning sun;
Behind I saw them scarce a rood,
At daybreak winding through the wood,
And then through the night had herad  their feet,
Their stealing, rustling step repeat.

~* Wolf Dances With the moon*~
The moon followed my eyes,
earth pressed against mosit paws my breath
was a cloud of dreams
grandfathers ran with me ,
their strenght under my soul,
young pups waited for return of a protective father
joy swept through my coat,
soft embrace of wind,
I am here for generations
on this land  that is mother,
the rush of leaves
    sings to me,
swift rapids
    dance in mt shadow,
this night
      feeds my heart,
until a silent silver
     finds my flesh
tearing teath
    of unknown ghost
the moon grows dark
and waters still
the last cries of  young pups
  disapear into blindness
I melt into great earth arms
that sweep me along the sky.
                    Wolve's eyes...
                are the most beautiful eyes
                       to look into.
                   What do you see
                        when you look
              in those shimmering eyes
                    filled with fright?
                 You will see eyes
           filled with fright and pain
              for her little one's death.
                       What do  you hear
                in her sweat howling
                   in the pain  because
her little one is gone forever.
                        If you look...
                     in her eyes filled
                 with fright and pain
                 you will see a wolf
         who needs our desperate help.
                       if you listen...
                       to her howl
                   you will hear
              her desperate cry for help
                  that will never come
                     her way again.
