Welcome to SACRED SENTIMENTS, a compilation of over two decades
of poems I have written – While mostly inspirational, you will find as you read
along there are many poems dedicated to people who have passed through my life…
CROWNING TOUCHES
Sunlight filtering in my window ---
Chasing the night shadows away
---
The dawning of a new day.
A day in which I may enjoy to the
fullest
God’s splendor in creation ---
How marvelous are His
works!
The calming breeze
Blowing upon my face ---
The peaceful
sounds
Of the ocean waves lapping against the shore.
The beauty of a
mountaintop ---
Looking out over endless expansion of earth and sky.
A
brighter horizon ---
Oh, what a glorious day it is!
For my God has
thus made it for me to behold
The wonders of His hand ---
CROWNING TOUCHES
of His everlasting love.

HIS PRESENCE
The SPIRIT of the Lord comforts me and guides me as I walk the long and
winding road of life…
The HAND of the Lord touches mine and grips it
tightly, lest I stumble and fall…
The LOVE of the Lord puts peace in my
soul, laughter in my heart and joy in my days…
The PROMISE of the Lord
gives me faith to accept the past, endure the present, and anticipate the
future…

LOVE
LOVE is the beginning, the end, and all things in-between---
LOVE is
giving – taking more thought for others than for yourself---
LOVE is
reaching out to touch someone’s hand with kindness, warmth and understanding
---
LOVE is filling the void in sommeone’s life by easing their burdens,
sharing their sorrows, and lifting their spirits ---
LOVE is picking up
the pieces of someone’s broken heart and mending it back together again
---
LOVE is the will of God and thee cross of Jesus Christ
---

WISDOM
Help me to become more aware of other’s needs – putting them first instead of
myself…
Help me to be tolerant of those who strike out at me – They hide
behind their armour, lest someone see inside their hearts…
Help me to be
patient with those less fortunate than I – For many others have already turned
away from them…
Help me to stand as a shining light, beaming forth in the
glory and love of the Lord…

YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU
You can’t take it with you is what I’ve been told –
There’s no place in
Heaven for silver or gold.
You can’t take your TV, your clothes, or your car
–
Nor any of the things you’ve worked so hard for.
Keep your eyes on
the things which money can’t buy
For, in these, you’ll find true happiness
lies.
Abstain from your old ways and make a new start –
Put Christ in your
life and love in your heart!
You come in with nothing – You’ll leave the
same way –
Don’t wait until tomorrow ---
Make your decision
today.

A GRATEFUL HEART
The true meaning of Christmas – The purpose of living -
The pleasure in
little things – The joy of giving.
The thoughtfulness for others – The
fellowship of friends –
The blessings of the Lord – The love that never ends
–
The happiness in being, alive, and well, and free ---
I can’t begin to
thank You for these things You’ve taught to me.

WARFARE
Beware of the devil ---
He’ll tempt you, torment you, throw rocks in your
way
Bring troubles, confusion, and sorrows each day.
He’ll cause you such
pain, you’ll think you can’t bear
But always remember that the Lord is
near.
The harder you try, the more trials you’ll face
For it’s part of
the track in the Christian race.
You’ll grow weary of running and almost give
up
But, compared to Christ’s suffering – It’s never enough.
Be
thankful for hardships that come your way
For the rewards are greater than
words can say.
To follow Christ’s footsteps, you must pass the tests
For,
to be a Christian – Is to be truly blessed.

REALITY
There’s a song in my heart that makes me want to burst with
happiness…
There’s a desire in me to love everyone I see, no matter who
they are or what they believe…
There’s a glow inside me that warms me all
over and fills my every need…
There’s a peace inside me to know that God
has not forsaken me, but has accepted me just as I am…

GOD’s HELP
Take me through my trials today – Hold me up, don’t let me stray –
Teach
me to love others, who, do not believe the way I do.
Wipe away the tears and
make me strong ---
For the path is narrow and the road is long.
To follow
you, Lord, I can’t weigh the cost ---
For while I weigh, my soul could be
lost.
Change my heart, my mind, my soul
You are my Master – You’re in
control.
Give me faith, hope, comfort and love
And wonderful peace from
Heaven above.
Keep me calm in the midst of the storm –
Wrap Your love
around me and keep me warm.
Let me show others what You’ve done for me
---
And to You give the praise, the honnor and glory.

EXEMPLIFYING CHRIST
Let me show my love to all – Whether rich or poor, big or small
Red,
black, yellow, brown or white – For we’re all equal in Your sight.
Let me be
a helping hand to those who find it hard to stand
Upon their faith, and fall
beneath their load of sorrow, pain and grief.
Let me share with others,
the hope and faith You’ve given me ---
Let me always honor You, in everything I
say and do ---
And through my deeds, let others see – Your Holy Spirit dwells
in me.

THE GREAT WHITE THRONE
On that great final day when Jesus appears
We’ll be caught up together and
meet in the air.
To be with our loved ones, who long have been gone
And we
will see Jesus, upon the Great White Throne.
The books will be opened –
The names will be read –
Our lives will be judged, one by one, Jesus
said.
We’ll go into eternity with the blessings of God
Our footprints
firmly planted in the paths we bravely trod.

SUFFERING
Oh, will this sorrow never end that follows me around ---
It paints my
world a dismal gray, and turns me upside down
Oh, will this mind never leave
the troubles that I bear ---
And look instead to seek and find someone else’s
load to share.
Oh, will this burden never lift from deep within my heart
---
And bring a calming peace inside too know, with Me, Thou art.
Oh, will
this being never show the life it lives, and say ---
Yes, dear Lord, I’ll
follow you – I’m with You all the way.

SEEING CLEARLY
When I am troubled and burdened down
I pause to think and turn
around
To look at life in another light ---
And I find, through God, He
restores my sight.
I see dimly now, but clearer still ---
For I know
this trial is of God’s will
And through this time, I hope I’ll be
As true
to the Lord, as He is to me.

HAVE FAITH IN GOD
Have faith to believe in miracles – You’ll find they do come true
For what
Jesus did for others – He’ll also do for you.
He’ll lift you out of valleys
and out of tempests tossed ---
He’ll take your every burden and nail it to
the Cross.
For God in Heaven hears your cries and knows your inner heart
---
He has the answers to your trials, before they even start!
The power
of prayer can change your life ---
If you’ll stand on the Word of
God
Expect – Believe – Receive a miracle –
For with God, there’s
nothing too hard!!

I WOULDN’T TAKE NOTHING
I wouldn’t take nothing for this way of life
That I’m living from day to
day ---
Nor for all the prayers, love and miracles
Touched with the
closeness of God by faith.
I wouldn’t take nothing for this way of
life
Which gets better every hour ---
For though the flames burn hot
around me
God takes me through this fire!
I wouldn’t take nothing for
this way of life
Though trials and tribulations come ---
I’ll keep holding
on to the Word of God
And cast them off – One by one!
I wouldn’t take
nothing for this way of life
Which is getting brighter still ---
For
through the darkness, there shines a light
That beckons me on in God’s
will.
I wouldn’t take nothing for this way of life
There’s no greater
life to be found ---
With my face towards Heaven, my eyes on the cross
And
my feet on Higher Ground.
I wouldn’t take nothing for this way of
life
Until I make Heaven my Home ---
For Jesus reigns there in all power
and glory
And God is still on His Throne!!

AMEN
A is for the ANSWERS God gives to our requests ---
M is for
the MIRACLES granted from the Lord above ---
E is for ETERNITY,
wherein our souls will rest ---
N is for God’s NEARNESS, in His
undying, saving love.

BEING THANKFUL
Have you trials and tribulations?
Be thankful, for such tests your
patience and brings great rewards in Heaven to you who remain
faithful.
Have you an abundance of good things?
Be thankful, for such
is God’s reward here on earth to you who love Him.
Have you
persecutions?
Be thankful, for such was also done to Jesus and His disciples
before you.
Have you burdens for other souls?
Be thankful, for such is
the way God uses you to comfort others and win the lost to Christ.

CRUCIFIED
Thank you, Jesus, for dying for me
And for shedding Your blood at
Calvary
Hanging on that cross in silent shame –
You bore my sins, though
You knew not my name.
You suffered untold pain and disgrace
To save
the souls of the human race ---
You carried my guilt with every stripe
For
by Your death – You saved my life.
Though You died long ago in a place
faraway
My spirit bears witness that You live today
Your great sacrifice
was the gift of all time
With You, I have conquered – The victory’s
mine!!

NEW LIFE
There’s joy to be found in living today
For what God gave to you, man
can’t take away
He gave you His Son, who died on the cross
To pay for the
sins of those that were lost.
His love was so strong, that, in His great
plan
He came down to earth in the form of a man
So, rejoice in the fact
that, today, you are free ---
Jesus gave you new life, when He hung on that
tree!!

USE ME
Oh Lord, look upon me as I kneel down to pray
Guide and direct me in Your
chosen way.
Strengthen my faith – Cleanse me from sin –
And in Thine own
image, make me over again.
Lead me to the lost sinner, a witness to be
---
And through hearing my words, bringg Him closer to Thee.

MONEY
God is not my master – Nor all the riches therein –
For will it buy me a
home in Heaven?
Or save me from the pits of sin?
Would it bring me
lasting pleasures?
Or put an end to strife? Could it keep me safe from
harm?
Or add one minute to my life?
Oh, what horrors do await the one
whom money controls
Such a bargain the devil makes – A piece of paper for a
soul!
But money has a purpose, when it’s placed in Christian hands
For
it speeds the Gospel around the world –
And sends God’s message throughout
the lands.

BE A HAPPY CHRISTIAN
Give instead of take – Build instead of break – Love instead of hate.
Put
yourself aside – Let God by your guide – Tell others why Christ died.
Believe
in what you say – Show Christ in every way –
Praise God for life
today.

TURN ON THE LIGHT
Pity the man who knows not the Lord.
He is as a man who enters
someone’s house and finds it dark inside. There’s a light switch – But he knows
not where to look for it. He searches along the walls, but is unable to locate
it, for he reaches either too high or too low.He stumbles blindly into furniture
and pauses, fearful of what he’ll run into next…Finally, in frustration and
despair, he calls out for help from the one who knows where the light switch
is!
**When you turn on the light in this darkened room, you bring Christ
into a human heart and sunshine into a troubled soul.

THE LITTLE CHILD
The little child clings tightly to the hand of the adult who’s with him.
He follows willingly, without fear, for he knows he is safe as long as
he holds this hand - He sees things he’d like to stop and look at, but continues
on because this hand is much more valuable to him…To lose touch with this hand
throws him into sudden fear and panic. Nothing can comfort him, though there are
many toys to play with and many people to talk to…This hand is the dearest thing
in the world to him – For it represents the safety, love, strength and guidance
of the adult.
**Let us, by faith, hold to the hand that reaches out to us
– and learn a lesson from this little child.

IN HIS HANDS
Every day that dawns brings something new to do
Someone, lost and
searching, is reaching out to you
There’s a mountain to be moved and a river
to be crossed
There’s a burden to be lifted and an answer to be
sought.
For God designed the blueprint – And you are in His plan –
So let
Him work through you – Put your life in His hands!

PRIORITIES
My life was given to me in order that I might be used of God to perform
services for others…
I cannot spend my time in the cares of this world –
But must do the things which are pleasing in His sight…
There are so many
people in the world today that are plagued by physical, mental and spiritual
problems – They desperately need a light to shine on their darkened
path…
Can I but do less than that which is expected of me as a child of
God?

HOPE
Escaping reality – Running down the road – Taking a long trip to
nowhere.
Clutching pills – Drowning in drink – Lost in a world of
emptiness.
Asking questions – Seeking answers – But knocking on the wrong
door.
Despairing darkness encircling ---
A hand reaches out --- CHRIST ---
The light of the world.

AWARENESS
Listen, people, don’t you hear the Saviour whispering in your ear?
He
calls you to repent from sin – and, into His shelter, enter in.
Look, oh
people, can’t you see the place prepared for you and me?
For there’s another
life ahead – Mere mortal graves won’t hold the dead.
Awaken, people, won’t
you heed God’s warnings in this time of need?
Don’t perish like the heathen
do – Come to Jesus – He’ll see you through!

SEE-SAWS
Some of us are so puffed up and think ourselves so grand –
If we stopped
to think, we’d realize we all hold the same Saviour’s hand.
Some of us have
fallen below the standards that we’ve set –
But we can learn from our
mistakes – For God has never failed us yet.
Some of us have reached the
ground that’s neither too high or too low
We humbly stand, our footing firm –
and with our burdens, to God, we go.

A FAITH WALK
There’s no error in your life that God cannot undo
There’s no problem,
left to Him, that He won’t see you through
All you have to do is ask, and God
will supply the need
Blessings fall upon those, who, worship Him in thought
and deed.
Life is but a faith walk --- It’s step by step each day
---
God’s heart is always open – When yyou take the time to pray.

A BEAUTIFUL PLACE
What a beautiful place this world would be ---
If we only reached out
with hand in hand
And touched each other, from land to land
Started
sharing our faith and love with others
All standing together, as sisters and
brothers.
Broke down the barriers or religion and race
For God has no
color – He shines in every face
No strangers in Christ – But united in Spirit
–
Keep sounding this message ---
Till the whole world can hear
it!!

SALVATION
A man, confused and troubled, is searching for the truth
Having heard so
many stories, now unsure of what to do
Reaching out in childlike faith – He
decides, on God, to call
A calming peace engulfs him, as he surrenders
all.
His heart begins rejoicing – Doubts and fears all pass away
God’s
love starts flowing through him – and his night turns into day.
Oh to see
that rapt expression as God takes complete control
In this modern age – a
miracle – The transformation of a soul!
© 1973 Dorothy Womack
PASSING JUDGMENT
You’re looking over your shoulder
At the neighbor who is stumbling
---
His outer expression hides the factt
That, inside, his world is
crumbling.
You don’t know every burden
He silently may bear ---
Nor
do you know the urgent cries
He takes to God in prayer.
All you see is
the outer man
Whose feelings don’t show through ---
It’s often easy to
forget
That you can falter too!!
We all possess some hidden
faults
Which only God can see –
So don’t pass judgment on your
neighbor
For you are no better than he!!

EXAMPLES
Where would I be, if I died on this day
Have I done any more than I did
yesterday?
Did I follow the path God gave me to walk?
And speak the words
He told me to talk?
Have I made an attempt to comfort someone
And show
them new life through God’s only Son?
Am I something less than what I should
be ---
If so, precious Lord, cleanse the fault in me.
