Women in Ecuador
Traditional Views:
The Traditional views of Ecuadorian women are of more of an animalistic type of assumption.  The men treat "their women" as an object, a possession.
These views show women as not equal to men, they can not think or act as well as a man can do.  It is said that women (traditionally speaking) need protection and guidance from the man in their lives.
In a traditional setting, women are often used as a "pleasure" instrument for men.  It doesn't particularily matter what she feels or thinks, as long as she pleases her man in whatever way he requests.
The women in a traditional society is first a mother, and second a wife.  Her only duties are to have children and take care of her family.
Progressive Views:
The Progressiveviews of women in Ecuador are much more advanced in thinking and also much more individualized.
The progressive views are such that represent and support the fight for equality between men and women.  It is believed that women have their own capacity to act and think for themselves.
The feminist groups of Ecuador have slowly made it so that they have opportunities.  They have founded the Centro Ecuatoriano para Promocion y Accion de la Mujer (CEPAM) in 1983.
CEPAM supports the advancement in women requesting divorced and child support from deteriorating marriages.  They also support the many women's centers in Ecuador: Las Casas del Refugio: Comisaria de la Mujer.
