Travel and Getting Around Town
Ok, so we convinced you to come to the Conference!! YAY! Here is how to get in and around State College PA.

Directions To State College:
from Pittsburgh and points west:
Take the Parkway East (Interstate 376) and get onto 22 East. Take 22 East for about 100 miles to Altoona. A few miles before Altoona, veer left onto Interstate 99 and 220 North. Take that past Altoona, Bellwood, and Tyrone. Eventually, Interstate 99 stops and the road becomes just 220 North. Follow 220 North (will eventually make a right at a gas station) to 322 East. From 322 East, get off at the Business 322/Atherton Street exit. Go about 15 lights and make a left onto Beaver Avenue (a one-way street going left and into downtown State College). Go about 5-6 lights and make a left onto Garner Avenue. Go through the College Avenue light and onto Penn State campus. The street name switches from Garner Street to Shortlidge Avenue after College Avenue. Before the first stop sign on Shortlidge, park in the HUB Parking Deck on your left. Walk out of the parking deck on the furthest side from Shortlidge Avenue. Go past the HUB on your left to Pollock Road, which has lots of construction on it. Cross Pollock Road and find a path (to the right of Boucke Building) which will take you straight to Wartik. Wartik Building will be on your left across from another huge construction pit. Wartik is a tall yellow brick building, located right next to a shorter building with a huge satellite dish on top of it.

From Philly and points east:
Take the PA turnpike West to Exit 19 at Harrisburg East (the first Harrisburg exit). Getting off Exit 19 will take you straight onto Interstate 283. Follow signs onto Interstate 81 and 83 going North and West. Once on 81 and 83, take the 322 West exit. Will be on 322 West for about 100 miles. 322 West will take you to State College. Get off 322 at the 26/College Avenue exit. Make a left off the exit ramp. You are in downtown State College when College Avenue becomes a one way street whisking you towards downtown. Make a right onto Shortlidge Avenue/Garner Street and that will bring you onto Penn State campus. Before the first stop sign on Shortlidge, park in the HUB Parking Deck on your left. Walk out of the parking deck on the furthest side from Shortlidge Avenue. Go past the HUB on your left to Pollock Road, which has lots of construction on it. Cross Pollock Road and find a path (to the right of Boucke Building) which will take you straight to Wartik. Wartik Building will be on your left across from another huge construction pit. Wartik is a tall yellow brick building, located right next to a shorter building with a huge satellite dish on top of it. If you get lost, don't panic. Just follow signs for Penn State football traffic.

From New York:

From DC:
Take I-495 (Beltway) West to I-270N.Take I-270N to I-70W. Take I-70W to Breezewood. At Breezewood interchange, take I-76W (Pennsylvania turnpike) towards Pittsburgh/New Stanton. Get off the turnpike at the next exit, which will be Bedford. The turnpike is a toll road, but it is free to take the Breezewood exit to Bedford exit, and vice versa. At Bedford, follow signs to US-220N/I-99. Eventually I-99 will disappear and the road will become just 220-N. Follow 220N towards State College- will have to make as right turn at a gas station. Take US-220N to 322E (220 ends at 322). Take 322E to State College. At State College, take 322-Business Route/Atherton Street exit. Go through 15 lights and make a left onto Beaver Avenue. Go through 5 or 6 lights and make a left onto Garner Street. Go through the next light (College Avenue) and the street name changes into Shortlidge Avenue. Before the first stop sign on Shortlidge, park in the HUB Parking Deck on your left. Walk out of the parking deck on the furthest side from Shortlidge Avenue. Go past the HUB on your left to Pollock Road, which has lots of construction on it. Cross Pollock Road and find a path (to the right of Boucke Building) which will take you straight to Wartik.
