When I got my motorcycle license 7 years ago, I never imagined what it would be like to ride on a racetrack.  I’ve always been content to cruise with my friends or fly along a country road regardless of who was with me, or who was the more experienced rider.  It wasn’t until I began  working summers at a local motorcycle dealership that I learned of the Kawasaki High Performance Riding School held twice a year at Atlantic Motorsport Park in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia.  Towards the end of the summer, I had  seen a couple friends try their hand at racing, and although I hadn’t grandiose dreams of competing, I knew I at least wanted to get on the track.

That was 2 summers ago, and I’ve since participated in 3 other race schools as the desire to be on the track is hard to shake.

Even though I personally have no qualms about playing with the boys, the ratio of male to female riders  was always greater in my schools and I think an all women's riding school would be both exciting and unique.

And...

Since five was the greatest number of women that ever participated in any of my race schools,  I think it’s about time that 50 women inhabit that track in our vary own riding event.  As such, this is my undertaking and it is one that will be both interesting and tricky to organize.

The only thing I need from you, the ladies, is a commitment to have fun, learn tons about your motorcycle, and come prepared to improve your riding skills.

If your a female motorcyclist in the Atlantic Canadian region and you're interested in getting on the track, I urge you to take few minutes to browse this website and hopefully convince you to come out and play.  Here's some basic information:

Date: Saturday June 29th
Where: Atlantic Motorsport Park, Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia
Cost: TBA (should be under $100)
Description:  One day, high performance riding school designed for the experienced/interested female motorcyclist.  As an on-track course, you will learn cornering and braking techniques, build confidence in your sport riding ability, and will get a better idea of what you and your bike can do.  This is not a leisure Sunday ride - so come prepared to scrub in your tires.

Sincerely,

Kirsty - Event Organizer and General Sport bike Enthusiast
