2005:  January 25: County Board denies hearing on tax exemption for 2200 24th St. N. (Potomac Point)

 

2004:  November 16:  Arlington County Board approves operation of group homes – Ivanwald (12 residents including staff) and Potomac Point (12 residents including staff)

 

2004:  July:  Woodmont residents offer opinions on group homes

 

1986:  Cedars confirmed as “place of worship” [Note:  as of 2004, 100% tax exempt]

 

1978:  The Cedars begins to operate 2 group homes at 2224 24th St. N. (owned by Wilberforce Foundation, 204 Mount Oak Place, Annapolis, MD 21401; (designated as Ivanwald - Men’s Dormitory) and 2200 24th St. N. (owned by Fellowship Foundation, 2200 24th St. N., Arlington, VA 22207; designated as Potomac Point – Women’s Dormitory)

 

1978:  Fellowship Foundation (7700 Wisconsin Ave., #500, Bethesda, MD 20814) purchases property now known as “The Cedars” and determined to be “place of worship.”

To meet the review requirements specified by the County Board, a neighborhood advisory committee has been established and a resident liaison appointed.  The group meets quarterly to handle any issues that arise and to provide community comment for administrative or County Board reviews (see links in timeline at left)
