Mounted Combat
Currently myself and Chris Kovach (also a member of the OMSG) are conducting research and developmentt in the area of mounted combat  We are using Fiore dei Liberi's manuscript "The Flower of Battle" as a primary source of information.  This document is quite complete in its description of mounted combat and has sections on Lance, Spear, Sword and even Grappling. This text also teaches combat with un-matched weapons such as sword against spear.  This would have been an important skill as lances often did not survive the first charge in battle

Although there are a vast number of groups involved in "sport" Jousting or Tilting which in recent years have become quite popular,  we are attempting to develop skills that would have been more common on the battlefield rather then in a tournament.  This means more equal emphasis is put on the use of all weapons as well as control and maneuverability of the horse.  In fact combat skills with sword and spear will most likely make up the bulk of our hands-on training when the time comes.
With the support of our freinds at Seven Star's Ranch, in Duclos, Quebec, we have been able to finally begin some serious mounted combat training.  Since finding a location that actually allows us to use thier horses for mounted combat, we have been able to quickly progress with our skill level and knowledge.
