Below: some images of renaissance saddles (late 15c) Not quiet medieval but many believe these still closely matched thier eariler counter parts.

The "modern" Combat Saddle The McLellan saddle shown below, was used during the American Civil War and remained in service up until WWI (when horses where finally replaced by tanks).
