Detroit Blues Harmonica Breakdown III - January18, 2003 - It was cold outside but HOT inside as three of the countries top harp players took the stage. Up first, Dave Morris. Formally of Big Dave and the Ultrasonics (now with Doug Demming and the Jeweltones), Dave began a smoking set from the very first note. Not to be outdone Greg" Fingers"Taylor showed that he was not held by the Buffet tunes he had played for years. Finger's grasp of the blues harp is extremely underated. Kim Wilson is undoubtably the finest harp player in the country today. In this intimate setting Kim's set, with friends on board, was extremely evocotive. Adding flavor to the mix original Funk Brother/keyboardist Joe Hunter. An outstanding effort that was appreciated by all. We hope this will encourage further collaberation between these artists. |
