Worsted weight yarn and coordinating Size 10 thread
1/2 in button for closure
Ch 30.

Row 1:  sc in 2nd ch from hook & ea ch across; ch 1; turn.

Row 2:  sc in 1st sc; *3 dc in next sc; sk next 2 sc, sc in next sc; repeat from * across.  Ch 2 (counts as 1st dc on following rows)  Turn.

Row 3:  2 dc in 1st sc; sk next 2 dc sc in next dc; *3 dc in next sc; sk next 2 dc, sc in next dc; repeat from * to last sc; dc in last sc.  Ch 1; turn.

Row 4:  sc in 1st dc; 3 dc in next sc; sk next 2 dc, *sc in next dc; 3 dc in next sc; sk next 2 dc, repeat from * to turning ch 2, sc in 2nd ch of turning ch 2.   Ch 2 turn.

Rows 5-34:  Repeat rows 3&4; ch 1 turn.

Row 35:  Last row, sc in next 13 sts; hdc in next st; (dc, ch 3, dc) in next st (buttonhole made); hdc in next st; sc in last 13 sts.

Edging:  ch 1 sc evenly across ends of rows (50 sts) to next corner; ch 1; sc in ea free loop of beginning ch; ch 1 sc along end of rows (50 sc) finish off.  Weave in ends.

fold purse with 19 sts along edge.

Join yarn at fold; sc front & back together through both loops.  (19 sc)

ch 100 for strap ( add extra sts for a longer handle if desired)

sc opposite side of purse together (19 sc).  Finish off and  weave in ends.

Ser button to purse to line up with buttonhole.
