Worsted Weight Yarn and coordinating thread of your choice
optional: 6" plastic canvas circle; Buckle or button
Rnd 1: ch 1; 10 sc in ring, join with sl st to 1st sc. ; (10sc)
Rnd 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around; join with sl st to 1st sc. (20 sc)
Rnd 3: ch1; *sc in 1st sc; 2sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st to 1st sc. (30 sc)
Rnd 4: ch1; *sc in next 2 sc; 2sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st to 1st sc. (40 sc)
Rnd 5: ch1; *sc in next 3 sc; 2sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st to 1st sc. (50 sc)
Rnd 6: ch1; *sc in next 4 sc; 2sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st to 1st sc. (60 sc)
Rnd 7: ch1; *sc in next 5 sc; 2sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st to 1st sc. (70 sc)
Rnd 8: ch1; *sc in next 6 sc; 2sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st to 1st sc. (80 sc)
(OPTIONAL: If you would like a firmer bottom on your bag, finish off now and repeat rows 1-8 to form another circle, continue with row 9 doing sc through both loops of ea circle; when about 1/2 way around insert a 6" plastic canvas circle (you may need to trim a row or two from the PC circle depending on your gauge) and continue to join with sc.
Rnd 9 & 10: ch 1; sc in ea sc around; join with sl st to 1st sc. (80sc)
Rnd 11: working in back loops only; ch 1 sc in ea sc around; join with sl st to 1st sc. (80sc)
Rnd 12: ch 1; sc in ea sc around; join with sl st to 1st sc. ; (80sc)
Rnd 13: Ch 2; Keeping last lp of ea dc on hook, dc in first sc, sk next sc, dc in next sc, YO and draw through all 3 lps on hook;*ch 1, keeping last lp of each dc on hook, dc in same sc as last st made, sk next sc, dc in next sc, YO and draw through all 3 lps on hook; rep from * around; ch 1;join to top of 1st dc made.
Rnd 14: ch 1; sc in ea sc around; join with sl st to 1st sc.
Rnds 15-18: repeat rows 13 & 14 2 times.
Rnd 19-21: ch 1 sc in ea sc around; join with sl st to 1st sc. ; (80sc) (you may need to do a dec at the end of row 19 to make 80 sc.)
Rnd 22-26: ch 1; (sc,2dc) in 1st st; sk next 2 sts; *in next st work (sc, 2 dc); sk next 2 sts; rep from * around; join with sl st to 1st sc.
Rnd 27-29: ch 1 sc in ea sc around; join with sl st to 1st sc. (80sc) (you may need to do a dec at the end of row 27 to make 80 sc.)
Rnd 30: ch 1; (sc, ch3, 2 dc) -shell made; * sk next 2 sts, in next st work (sc, ch3, 2dc) rep from * around; join with sl st to 1st sc.
Rnd 31: ; ch 2; 3dc in ch-3 sp of each shell around; join with sl st to top of ch 2.
Rnds 32-35: repeat rows 30 & 31 2 times.
Rnds 36-38: ch 1 sc in ea sc around; join with sl st to 1st sc. (80sc) (you may need to do a dec at the end of row 36 to make 80 sc.)
Rnd 39: ch 2; hdc in same st & next 13 sts; *ch 2; skip next 2 sts; hdc in ea of next 2 sts; ch 2; skip next 2 sts; hdc in next 14 sts; repeat from * around ending with skip next 2 sts; hdc in ea of next 2 sts; ch 2; skip next 2 sts join with sl st to top of ch 2. (64 hdc and 8 ch sps)
Rnd 40: ch 1 sc in ea sc & 2 sc in each ch space around; join with sl st to 1st sc. (80sc)
Rnd 41-42: ch 1 sc in ea sc around; join with sl st to 1st sc. ; (80sc)
Rnd 43: ch 1;(sc,2dc) in 1st st; sk next 2 sts; *in next st work (sc, 2 dc); sk next 2 sts; rep from * around; join with sl st to 1st sc. ; Finish Off. Weave in ends.
STRAP
Make a chain about 36" long; making sure not to twist the chain; hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each ch across, turn, hdc in free loops on other side of beginning chain; sl st to top of beg hdc. Finish off.
Finishing
Weave strap through holes in row 39 making sure not to twist the strap, overlap the ends of the strap 1"; and sew together. (OPTIONAL: You can add a decorative buckle or button to the purse where the ends of the strap are joined. See Pictures
