A Recipe for Failure
As the title suggests, this is a negative article. Its focus is on things that would almost guarantee failure. The following is but a partial list of things that some athletes have done which kept them from being successful.
Anyone can be a failure, which is not a goal many people want to achieve. Everyone wants to be successful at some point in time. To be successful all one has to do is to learn from mistakes made and apply those lessons learned to future events.
Math teachers have noticed a "give-up" attitude in their students. If students can not figure out the answer to a problem in a short amount of time, they lose interest and stop trying. By doing this the students have guaranteed failure by just not trying to figure out the answer. They have not accepted this as a personal challenge to their mental abilities. The failure consists of not only the answer to the problem but understanding the concept being taught which would apply to other problems. As a result they continue to reinforce future failures.
No one likes to fail. However almost everyone has failed at something somewhere along the line. Learning from failure is the ingredient that separates success from continued failure. If you always do what you’ve always done, you always get the same results or worse.
There are some athletes that view failure as not winning. That view is highly unrealistic at any level of competition. Winning or losing is not a gauge for success or failure. Neither is how you play the game or the claims that you are trying. The real gauge for success or failure is your individual performance. At the highest levels of competition, athletes focus on their individual performance. Most realize that on any given day someone else could perform better and beat them. Good athletes are able to be satisfied with the outcome if their performance meets their perception of what they can achieve. In other words you don’t have to win to be excited and satisfied with the way you perform.
If you wish to be a failure, then use the above list and look for more things to add to it. If your wish is to be successful, then you should work to eliminate as many of the items on the list as you can. Only you can identify which item or items cause you to fail.
