I think I'll add a list of all
the CDs, cassettes, and LPs I own. I have no idea why, but it strikes me as a
cool idea. Then, I guess if you see something on the list you like, you can
e-mail and we can "talk" about it.
These are as of when Im typing the page and in no particular order.
1. Petra Yeah,
they've changed a lot, but I like 'em. There new album, Revival, might well
signal at least a partial comeback.
2. Audio
Adrenaline These guys flat out rock. Underdog is, IMHO, their best
album. Lift is okay.
3. Waterdeep
Raw, folksy music with gritty, introspective lyrics. Great for all of us who
hearing the falling but "hate the falling sound." Don't just confine
yourself to Everyone's Beautiful and the worship albums. Check out the indie albums, too.
Heres the link to their fan site.
4. Jennifer
Knapp Folksy but a bit more polished than Waterdeep. Lay It Down
is cool, but I like Kansas
(and Wishing Well)
better. I have an autographed promo pre-release of Kansas but I've
never met Jennifer. I havent had The Way I Am long enough to have a
solid opinion.
5. Caedmon's
Call College slant. They've opened my eyes to some stuff. I'm a Guilder
second year running. Got to meet some of the guys back stage in October 1999.
Pretty cool dudes. For awhile I was the only one back there so it was
one-on-one.
6. Vigilantes of Love Raw! The
language on a some of the songs on the earlier CDs is a bit rough for me. I
like their honest, non-rose colored look at life.
7. Point of Grace I dunno why, I just
like 'em.
8. Mark Heard Not the greatest
singer, but an awesome lyricist.
9. V*enna I'm hooked. Cool tunes for
a group with a name like those little canned sausage thingies.
10. Jill Phillips At a Caedmon's Call concert in October 1999, I passed Jill
in the hall on my way to the bathroom. Only thing is, I didn't know who she
was. I gave her a friendly smile and went on. But, I forgot my ticket stub, so
I walked back past her and returned to my seat. As soon as I sat down, they
introduced her. So, that was kinda cool. (Yes, I live a boring life.)

Beyond Belief A
good rocker along the lines of On Fire! and This Means War!
Come & Join Us Has a sound similar to the self-titled album.
Greg Volz is on this one, but only does lead vocals on two songs.
"Sally" is a cool cut that warns against backsliding.
Double Take Remakes of songs on previous albums, plus two new
ones. Different sound again-- less edgy and all acoustic. The new songs are the
best on the album.
Early Years (Vol. 1) I've never listened to this one, but have
the albums that the songs came from. I don't really care for "best
of" albums. I'll stick to originals. Anyone ever heard of Early
Years (Vol. 2)?
God Fixation New sound! Great sound! I would recommend this one,
but it's definitely different. Of course, Petra no longer has a defining sound,
so its being different shouldn't be any surprise.
No Doubt Rockier than some of the others.
On Fire! Stirring and challenging upbeat songs.
Petra If you're a fan of modern, or even Greg X. Volz, Petra,
this album will be a surprise and, possibly, disappointment. It's good and it
sounds like the guys had fun making it.
Petra En Alabanza No hablo and never listened to
it, so I can't comment.
Petra Means Rock Standard compilation. Skip the "best
of" albums and go for the originals... unless you just want a sampling.
Petra Praise: The Rock Cries Out A good one, but not as
"praisey" as Petra Praise 2. They do a song a la 1950's
on this. Cool.
Petra Praise 2: We Need Jesus Wow! Amazingly beautiful praise
ballads from a rock band. "We Need Jesus" is one of my favorite
songs.
Revival Petras newest sound
in the vein of modern easy rock praise.
Rock Block I have this
one. It's a "best of" album.
Unseen Power Good, but not one of my favorites.
Wake-Up Call Really good and rocky. One of my favorite Petra
albums.
Beyond Belief
Awesome. Not just music videos, but also a mini-movie.
Unseen Power Backstge Pass Cool vid. Some music and lots of
personal looks at the band.
Wake-Up Call A compilation of videos from three different
albums.
