In the Cemetery survey, Etowah County, Alabama, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In 1963 this is listed as an unknown cemetery located 1 mile west of HWY 241 Near Carlisle, or 3 miles NE of Aurora.
They state: According to a neighbor there were origionally 22 graves. At that time markers were seen for about 10 to 15 graves. Only two were legible.
This cemetery is on private land in a pasture that is fenced.
Ann Harris in her book ~Branches and Roots~ writes this
I took the first four pictures in 2000. My dad took me there. ~I TALKED TO MY FATHER. HE SAID THE LAND THAT GILLILANDS IS ON IS OWNED BY THE DESCENDENTS OF DON Q AND CARO HUBBARD WALKER HE THINKS. HE DOES NOT KNOW THE NAME OF THE ROAD SINCE 911 CAME TO BE IN THAT AREA BECAUSE THEY CHANGED THE NAMES OF MANY OF THE ROADS....~
I do have a clearer picture of Nancy Maddox's headstone, but can't find it right now.
The cemetery was already going back to nature.
I visited again this month, April 2005. The grass wasn't as high and I was able to see the field stones this time.
