It’s your call
Some experts have said that a teacher makes, on the
average, some 5 000 decisions per day
in the classroom. Decisions are made on
a gamut of topics ranging from how to deal with the lads with ADDS to selecting one of the waving hands eager
to respond to a question. In each
instance the teacher must must endeavor to respond appropriately as the
well-being of the psyche of the developing child must be factored in as being
utmost in importance. What a tremendous
respon-sibility! To a competent teacher
the educational system says: It`s your
call.
Even when a youngster, say, investigates purchasing a
vehicle, he or she learns to consider a number of aspects not previously
weighed. A giant step awaits them in
their walk toward responsibility.
Why? For one, going from no debt
to major debt constituites a life-changing decision, a decision to sign on the
dotted line in order to borrow to purchase.
This means one must continue to work in order to be able to continue to
make payments. Yes, it would be easier
not to buy and not have to worry about meeting obligations. In order to move into the next phase of
life, however, a decision must be made.
To all who prepare the way for such a purchase to be made, they
say: It`s your call.
When an employer calls to ask you to report to work
(and suppose that you haven`t worked for a long time), it`s your call
again. It`s up to you to accept go into
work the next day and begin a life.
Perhaps there are the occasional some that will let on that the employer
never called, and stay on the couch letting on how difficult it is to find
work. Anybody can get fooled, at least
temporarily. A similar phenomenon
occurs when the Holy Spirit calls us to come to Christ. Many will pretend that they have not, did
not, or were not summoned by the Holy Spirit to come to Christ. Of course, we can fool some people some of
the time, but not all of the people all of the time. A warning to those who have been called by God is that though you
may fool some, you must realize that, you can never fool God. When the Holy Spirit calls on you, you had
better believe it: It`s your call.
It`s your call when you decide those monumental
decisions like going to university, getting married, buying or renting a house,
having children, and so forth. Some of
these decisions will affect your entire life while others will affect but
certain parts of it. It`s also your
call when you do such things as eat too much, drink intoxicating substances too
much, ingest tranquilizers too much, do drugs, gamble, use your tongue as a
sword too much, and the list goes on.
If you are a business man, it`s your call every day to make right
decisions. If you are a supervisor of some sort, it`s your call to
perform competently rather than prejudically during decision times. Likewise, if you are a pastor, it`s your
call when it comes to taking care of your flock. The pastor, however, deals in decisions resulting in eternal benefits or eternal
consequences. For all faced with a
choice to make at any given moment, it`s your call. We must be mindful, of course, that some decisions are like
making first impresstions, we can`t make them twice.
Your most important call may come via the reading of
this message. The Lord calls each and
every one of us as he wants none to perish (2 Peter 3:9). If you haven`t had your call yet, this is
it. If you have had a call from God and
rejected it, then this could be your last call as the Holy Spirit will not
always strive with man. Many have
accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour barely seconds prior to death. That`s what you call a close call. If you feel the Holy Spirit working on you
now in an attempt to have you believe, it`s your call. Keep in mind that you will not see eternal
life as none are there now nor will there be any there in the future who have
not accepted God`s call. Accept Jesus
Christ as your Saviour today or reject him.
Make a decision. It`s your
call.
