The Taliban Spirit

For some reason part of the word "Taliban" seems to define itself in English. The last syllable "ban" epitomizes the spirit of this now collapsing choir from hell. In short, most anything you can name has been banned by this group. Wanting to set up the world's purest Islamic state, the Taliban approximated the purest Satanic state.

Initially, leaders discontinued television, music and cinema. Being hardest oppressed, females were forbidden access to education, music and work. Later, women's rights to health care were cut; they became confined to their homes where the government ordered all exterior windows of their homes painted black. Next came beatings for not being clothed in accordance with Taliban restrictions, whipped for exposing their ankles, and not allowed to use cosmetics, just to name a few. Also decreed was that woman must not laugh loud (as her voice should not be heard by a stranger), nor should her footsteps be heard. In the beginning the Taliban sought to remove women from public life, then from life in general with public executions and the like. One Taliban leader was quoted as saying, "There are only two places for Afghan women: in her husband's house, and in the graveyard." The word "tyrannized" does little to describe what happens to women.

Long ago, a man by the name of Saul "breathed murderous threats against the Lord's disciples." He, too, began in the name of religion and the god he served "...to destroy the church, dragging men and women off to prison." As well, Saul also oversaw the stoning of Stephen. All in all, he can be viewed before his conversion as having had a Taliban spirit. Subsequent to that, his life as an apostle gained world renown. As one can see, "...with God all things are possible"; that is, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Serve any other god and you serve a fraud.

A Taliban spirit thrives within various religious movements as it is a religious, sexist, racist, hypocritical, murderous spirit. Within the confines of pseudo-Christianity, that same spirit prevails. Where there exist practices of documenting people's shortcomings and errors, say hello to a variation of the Taliban spirit. 1 Corinthians 13:5 states that "love keeps no record of wrongs..." Where practices of disseminating harm unto others, say hello again to the spirit of the Taliban. Romans 13:10 says, "Love does no harm to its neighbor." Where it is customary to slaughter returning prodigals (spiritually, of course) who seek peace and restoration, say hello one more time to the Taliban spirit. Luke 15:32 reveals what should be done to any who endeavor to go back to what they think is the Lord's rest and why. The prodigal was welcomed back home. 1 Corinthians 13:4-6 says that "love is patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, and is not proud. It is not rude, nor self-seeking, and not easily angered. Love does not delight in evil, it protects and trusts, hopes, perserveres and never fails." When the spirit of love is absent, which spirit do you figure is present?
