OUR EARTH (Scientific)
Because of our earth's daily rotation on its polar axis, we have the alternation of day and night. Its revolution around the sun gives us our year. These motions give stability to its orientation in space. Compare an earth without any revolution at all. It will be a 'stationary earth' with no stability and alternation of day and night or seasons or greater diversity of plant life. How could Moses know about this? "and the evening and the morning .." These phrases are of ten repeated in Gen 1. Is not the God of our earth is the author of 'Genesis' the first book of the Bible?
The atmosphere of our earth is sufficiently high (about 500 miles) and dense to blanket the earth against the deadly impact of twenty million meteors that daily enter of speeds of about thirty miles per second. The atmosphere also maintains the temperature within safe limits for life and cuts the unwanted deadly ultraviolet rays from entering the earth. The atmosphere also carries the fresh water-vapour far into inlands from the oceans to irrigate the earth. Without such an irrigating system our earth would have become a 'desert'. "And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament " Gen 1: 6,7
If 'our earth' were as small as the 'moon', that is, its diameter is one-fourth of its present diameter, the force of gravity of our earth would become one-sixth of its present. That would fail to hold both atmosphere and water, and temperature on 'our earth' and it would be fatally extreme. If 'our earth's diameter is double of its present diameter, the 'earth' would be four times big as to its present form, the atmosphere the would not blanket 500 miles into space. If our atmosphere is reduced in its height as a result of earth becoming four times big due to diameter increasing twice, then the atmosphere pressure on every human head would be increased from 15 to 30 pounds per square inch and would cause dangers to life. Further, winter areas would be greatly increased. The habitable land to human beings would be greatly diminished. Travelling and communications would be difficult or not possible. Further, the force of gravity would become twice of its present form and that means no birds or any flying thing or objects or air travels- all will have to fall to the surface of the earth. God asks Job, "Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest ? or who hath streched the line upon it? Job 38:4,5.
If 'our earth' were the size of the 'sun', the atmosphere would be diminished to about four miles in height. There would be no evaporation of water or 'rain'. That is not possible. The pressure of atmosphere on earth would increase to over one ton per square inch. A one pound animal would weigh 150 pounds."Speculations? I have none! Thank God, I am not resting my dying head upon speculations. I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day"
(Michael Faraday on his death bed in 1867)
