My occupation was that of a Social Worker, mainly during the 1970-80s. I'd ask my clients, "What brings your here?", and then feel as lost as they were. I'd listen to their stories of hurts, fears and regrets Then their hopes and dreams. I don't thik I had a real realisation of hope until later when I came to the Lord - really came to the Lord that is - in my late 30s. One of the things about Christmas is the ideals that seems to spring up each year. Everyone ideally should be happy and lighthearted. Everyone should be surrounded by family and friends. Everyone should sit at a table laden with Christmas fair. Everyone should be immersed in numerous gifts. But it's not always that way.
This year please spare a thought for those who has nothing that we all take for granted. No warm, cosy home. No loving family and friends around them. No festive table. Maybe no hope unless someone shares with them the glory of Jesus Christ who died for them.
Some of the most rewarding Christmas Days I have spent is in preparing and serving a special meals to these precious souls and giving them each a present. Nothing too fancy, but to those dear ones it seemed like the world was laid at their feet.
Jesus came and gave His all for all of us. At this time of giving, please remember those less fortunate than yourselves.
I wish you all joy, peace and love this Christmas, and every day of the year.
God Bless,Gloria
