Senseless
By: Joe Van Brackle Jr.
It's like soaking up the sun while the rain dries your clothes
Like stabbing your friends and embracing your foes
But that's how it is when your life is like mine
Morals and reason, just step out of line
It's hard to smile while your being abused
It's hard to laugh after losing a tooth
Especially when it's your own "loving" fathers fist
But he was aiming for your eye, so he probably missed
Smiling and laughing only make it worse
But this is a normal day, just par for the course
I'll grow up to be him, when I'm grown and old
Strong and tough, and in total control
But how strong does a man have to be
To do all this to a 12-year-old me?
So I sit and I laugh and I take all the pain
'Cause when I grow up, I'm changing the game
But he won't touch me now, I'm no longer defenseless
Father's a bully, I never said he was senseless
