Welcome !!!

This is my travelogue page. You will find the descriptions of my past travels...the related incidents and stories. As I have mentioned that travel is one my passionate hobbies, I have tried to gather all the travel details. There are two reasons. One, I can share the stories with you. Two, in future this will help me to recollect my past days.Though it will not come under my travelogue , but still now I cherish those days when I used to visit Kolkata to my "BaroMamu's" (Eldest Maternal Uncle) house during my school winter/summer vacations. Travelling to Kolkata, visting the Zoo, Victoria, Planetarium etc were very much attractive during my childhood days.

If you need any specific information or any travel tips regarding any of these places, then drop me an email

North India

North India is famous for the hill stations, lakes and other beautiful places. This tour was the first big and long distance travel in my life. We went after my class 8 final examination in 1989. It was a big team of 11 and I went along with my parents, maternal uncle & aunt.

Our first destination was Lucknow. It's an old city with rich historical & cultural heritage. Lucknow is famous for it's twin Imambara's & the Bhulbhuliya. There are several good parks in the city. The city is also famous for it's relation with music & dance, and garments popularly known as "Shifon Work".

Nainital was the second stop. It is a beautiful hill station in the North Indian state of Uttaranchal (Previously UP). The place has Naini lake ("Tal" means "Lake" in Hindi) in the center and surrounded by hills. We were at Nainital for a couple of days and visited the nearby places. Apart from Naini lake there are several other lakes though they are not that famous and popular like Nainital. In Nainital, there is a ropeway, which goes to a place called NainaPeak. While we were coming down from Naina Peak through ropeway, suddenly because of some power failure it stopped for 5-10 mintues in the air, and we had a birds eye view of the town Nainital.

The next destination was Koshani. It's one of the topmost point in the region and is a good location to observe sunrise and sunset over the Himalayas specially across Nandadevi peak , the 4th heighest peak in the world after Mt. Everest, K2 & Kanchenjungha. We had a night halt at Koshani and left on the next day after the sunrise.

From Koshani it was a long drive. From the peak of Koshani we came down to the plane and drove uphill towards Hardwar. The weather was very hot in the plane. I remember we ate a lots of cucumber through out the day to keep ourselves cool and in the evening we reached Hardwar. Hardwar is a holy place for the Hindu's. The Temple and Ganga in Hardwar is very holy to pious Hindu's. There are several other tourist places like LakhmanJhula, Ranikhet near to Hardwar and we visited them as a day tour during our stay at Hardwar.

We left Hardwar in the morning after a stay of 2-3 days there. The destination was Mussorie, which is another beautiful hill station in North India. We traveled across Dehradun, one of the big cities in North India and in the foot of the hills. Mussorie is about 50-70 Kms from Dehradun. In the night, when the city switches on the light, it looks very beautiful from Dehradun. We stayed in Mussorie for 2 days.On the second night celebrated Babunda's (My cousin brother) birthday there.

Our journey was nearing towards the end. The last destination was Varanasi. Varanasi, situated in bank of river Ganges, is again one the holy places for the Hindu's. The Shiva temple, Benaras Hindu University (BHU), "Dasashyamedh Ghat" are famous in Varansi. From Varanasi, it was return jouney towards home.

It was one of the good journyes I have made hence 11 years after the trip, still I can recollect those days. Also because of my cousin brother & sister, Arun & Pampa, who also traveled along with their parents, we all had a very good time. Funs, games etc made our trip a memorable one. Be it in during the boat ride at Naini lake or in the Varanasi hotel during "pillow fighting", do doubt we all enjoyed the tour to the fullest. TOP
