An On-line Journal for Teacher Research
Join the XTAR
mailing list -- a
great resource according to Shirley Brown, PhilWP TC.
The list describes itself as such -- "XTAR is a
telecommunications discussion intended to enable
Teacher Researchers to share their inquiries - their
questions and their findings, their insights,
problems and suggestions - with colleagues in schools
and universities all over the world. Anyone involved
in classroom inquiry is welcome to participate and to
encourage others to do so."
There is an AERA Teacher Research
Special Interest Group that
you can join and they promise an on-line newsletter
soon.
Here is an interesting looking
project -- Developing Inquiring
Communities In Education Project (DICEP) with several of the members research
published on-line.
Triangle Journals of the Collaborative Action Research
Network.
And here is a magazine published by
teachers in the British Columbia Union called Teacher Inquirer.
And to plug some local work in book
form -- a great T-R resource called "Inside/Outside:
Teacher research and knowledge " edited by
Marilyn Cochran-Smith & Susan Lytle includes work
by Philadelphia Writing Project Teacher Consultants.
You can order via the TC Press website.
Also find out about the Spencer Foundation's
Practitioner Research Communication and Mentoring
Grants. These grants are
intended to support the development of strong
communities of teacher researchers. In general,
grants range from $2,000 to $15,000 annually.
I know this is just the tip of the
iceberg in terms of Teacher Research both here in
Philadelphia and on the National scene. I'd love to hear more from any and all of
you, so please write back
with thoughts, suggestions, questions. I would love
to know too if there are teachers who have
individually/locally published their work on-line.
Thanks! Christina
