Before heading out on any nature walks, back country hikes or campouts. It would be a good idea to check the weather report with the forest service or radio. You can purchase small inexpensive weather radios at your local electronic store. Still you maybe limited in range when traveling in the mountains.
Even though weather can be a factor in the enjoyment of your trip. If you are prepared, it can be tolerated. A short rainstorm need not wreck your trip if you have come prepared to deal with it. In the mountains, the weather can change quickly and often. Temperatures are generally cooler than would be in the flat country, especially at night.

We always take an extra tarp to cover things and plastic containers for storing things like food. We spray weather proofing on the tents to help keep the rain water out (of course we have the car if that do not work). Jackets and extra blankets are always with us. These are just a few of the things we do to be prepared.

I wish I could give more advice about predicting the weather. However, I Rely on a little Instinct, commend sense and the weather reports.
