World Championship Golf
It wasn’t really that surprising, was it? None of us had played golf in a very long time, waist lines had increased and the focus of most golfers lives had shifted somewhat. High scores were expected, and delivered.

Unemployment and a barrister’s free schedule allowed Ash, Deebs and Simmo to take advantage of arguably Victoria’s best winter midweek golf deal – 18 holes at Eagle Ridge with motorised buggy, plus soup and crusty/crunchy roll, all for $44. Bargain.

Unfortunately the golf was pretty ordinary. There were plenty of lost balls, scrubbers, slices, hooks and a first for WCG – a freshy. But it wasn’t all about the golf, it was about seeing mates again. Sure, we weren’t happy that we all played crap, but in a time where days off are priceless we were all generally happy to be out there.

Is WCG back – yes. Are scores going to be at the level of yesteryear – unlikely. Is it still nice to hang out with mates for a few hours and forgot the worries of the world – definitely.
