Machines GameTips -------- Tip 1 ----- In the early game, the basic defensive turrets can stop the computer-controlled AI dead in its tracks. Make the entry to your base area a field of turrets, and you can leave it on autopilot for quite a while. Tip 2 ----- Of course, you'll also run into the turrets set up by the computer-controlled player. To take these out, bring on a strike force of units equipped with plasma rifles and set their initiative to low. With a low initiative, your forces (when given the order) will attack in place rather than advance. Then move within range of your rifles, but beyond the range of the turrets and simply pummel your enemies into submission. Tip 3 ----- If you can spot an attack force early on, send out a squad or two to meet it. Then backpedal toward your base. More often than not, one of the opposing units will advance ahead of its comrades. Concentrate all of your fire on it, and it will either retreat or get destroyed. Keep up this tactic, and you can decimate a large attack force with only a few units. Tip 4 ----- Keep your eyes on your mines! If a mine gets destroyed, it will take forever to build another one. Also, make sure that you keep track of how many BTUs your mine has left, and locate another site for a new mine before you run dry. Tip 5 ----- When you locate an enemy base, first take out the military factories and then the constructors. Finally, escort in your own constructors to capture the remaining structures to give you a new "home away from home." Mac Raiders Press while playing the game. Edit the Computer's Decks ------------------------- There is a way to hack into the programming of Magic the Gathering and its expansions. To do this you must open up a DOS box from windows or begin a DOS session. Then you must switch to whatever directory magic is in (e.g. C:Magic) Then type "cd programdeck". Type dir and you will see a list of .dck files that are numbered. If you type edit 0010.dck you will be brought to a screen where the cards in deck 0010 are listed. The screen should say the creatures name at the top as well as its color. Listed in columns should be the cards' serial numbers, the amount of each card and the actual name of the card. To take out the land simply replace the quantity of land with the number 0. Make sure before saving that the total amount of cards in the deck is still at a minimum of 40 cards. Strip away the large lasers and replace them with medium ones. Now go over to the LRM-20s and jack the ammo up to 3 tons each (18 shots total). For some reason, unlike Battletech, Mechwarrior assumes that ALL Clan missles are "Streaks" - in other words, your LRMs are guided just like SRMs. When you attack, simply make your approach real slow, get a lock with 2x LRM20s, and hit them from a mile away. 90% of the time they'll go down in one salvo, an Atlas may take two (maybe). With 18 salvos at your disposal, you should be able to finish off every enemy in the mission without ever even warming up those medium lasers. Bonus Mechs ----------- In the Trials of Grievance, enter your name (and/or your starmates' names) in Star Config as one of the following. Enzo to gain the Battlemaster 'mech Calvin to gain the Elemental 'mech Unfortunately, due to a programming slip-up, if you try to play as the Battlemaster the game will crash. Level Select ------------ To access all levels type in at the sibko indentification screen: FREEBIRTHTOAD, then go to the ready room. All levels are either colors or names. The colors are regular missions and the names are the Trials For Position. MechWarrior 3 Disable Heat Death ------------------ To disable heat death (not exploding when you overheat) do the following. Take a mech that overheats by shuting down or explodes when perfoming an alpha strike. As soon as you do the alpha strike, quickly use your coolant by pressing the F key. You should recieve a message that says, "Heat death disabled." Easier Salvage -------------- To salvage enemy mechs easier all you have to do is to shoot off one of the enemy mech's legs. An easy way to do this a group a lot of medium pulse lasers together and fire them at one leg. NOTE: This trick doesn't always work, but it does increase your chances for salvage. Video Select ------------ To view any of the videos from Mech Warrior 3, open "My Computer". Then right-click on the Mech Warrior 3 CD, then click on open. Then go into the video folder. Just double click on the video you wish to view. Easy salvage: -------------- Blow the legs off a mech, rather then the torso. Or, better yet, use a head shot. Easy head shots: ---------------- Salvage a "Clan Targeting Computer" and equip it on your mech. Then target a mech's head and fire a large pulse for a one hit head shot kill. Easy kills: ------------ Blow off one leg of a mech. Since a mechs legs are much weaker then the torso, it makes killing enemy mechs much easier. -------- GameTips -------- Tip 1: ------ Don't think that an assault mech automically means you have the cat by the tail. Even the heaviest mech can have its legs or chest torn out by a couple of well-placed AC/20 shots. Keep moving and use cover. Tip 2: ------ Heat is more of an enemy than in any previous MechWarrior game. When you modify your loadouts, don't add more energy weapons than you can cool effectively. Those machine guns don't look like much, but they can keep tearing at an enemy while you cool down from that laser volley you just fired. Tip 3: ------ When battling enemy heavy mechs, send in whatever lance mates you have first while you concentrate heavy fire on the enemy mechs' legs. Use the zoom feature for those accurate long-range attacks. Mega Fortress At the mission start get into the air as fast as you can. Put your wheel brakes on while throttling up to 100% or get caught in the hangar doors. When the doors are open release the brakes and take off quickly following normal procedure. Mountains surround the base so head north once off the ground keeping a steady climb rate. Go to offensive weapons station and switch in attack radar. Decrease range to 5-10 km. Select the red batwing-shaped enemy fighter and while lock is established set the bomb control panel to 'unlatch' and 'auto'. Select an AIM-120 and launch. If this doesn't remove the enemy repeat the process until he's shot down. Shut off attack radar and switch to camera. General Elliot commands you to head west so maintain a steady climb rate over the mountains. Select time compression (warp 5) to reach the next screen. Evade friendly radar contact and simulate a crash in the ocean. Set time compression to normal (warp 1) and turn attack radar off. At the pilot station set your TAC to less than 380 feet but don't turn it on. Set throttle to 70% and go through the normal identification process when contacted by Seattle. When Elliot tells you to put on the show go into a steep dive until the analog altimeter or flight level shows -59. Air control asks if you're losing control and when you altimeter reads between 10500 and11500 switch on the TAC. Level off at around 500 feet to evade the radar. Change heading until you receive a confirmation that you've evaded radar contact. Elliot orders you to head west. Leave the TAC on but stay in camera mode on the EVS and do not switch the radar on. If you get this right you go to the next screen where you refuel. Switch the TAC off and gain altitude. Go to the offensive weapons station and use the camera mode to lock on to the KC 130 refuelling tanker. Go to the pilot station and click on 'C' in the air refuel panel. The tanker refuses so switch on attack radar and try again. You can now refuel. Switch to autopilot set throttle to 100% and go through the in-flight refuelling procedure. Set the EVS back to camera mode. You now have a full load of fuel and can go on to Kamchatka to blow up the Kavaznya radar. Remember not to use the default weapon load - remove all weapons and use a mix of AGM-136 AGM-88A AGM-84E and AGM-130s. Don't go straight for the laser but for laser radar and save some long-range missiles for it. Mega Lo Mania Level Select ------------ To advance a level press Shift + Period and to play the previous level hit Shift + Comma. Megaman X4 Get Ultimate Armour for X: -------------------------- At the character select screen hold down (UP) key and press ENTER (While selecting X) then go to Web Spider's stage and go to where the leg Armour is usually placed. You will get the Ultimate Armour instead. This gives you all armour modifications with a cool new graphic and the secret body crash attack which will kill just about anything. Play as Dark Zero: ------------------ Not really a cheat ,just a new graphic - ,just hold the (DOWN) key while having the selector on Zero to play as Dark Zero. Ultimate and Dark Armor ----------------------- To get x's ultimate armor, start a new game and hold down and press fire then find any armor capsule in the game to get his ultimate armor. to get zero's dark armor, hold up and press fire at the character select screen (your cursor has to be on zero) Beat all bosses (except last) and all Weapons During gameplay type in XSTUFF Mega Man X All weapons and tanks, no sub-Bosses: ------------------------------------- Type xstuff when game play begins. Basically, what everyone whould want is to unlock every vehicle. Simple. Just set the "Unlock Flags" part to "Unlock Flags=0" or 00. In the Panoz GTR-1, set the unlock score to 0000. Even an amateur can drive that car then. It should be pretty simple to edit what one wants other than that. No timer in Blitz mode: ----------------------- This cheat makes the timer in blitz mode disappear. It also makes the dashbord disappear. When you are starting the race press your view button and go inside the car. When you are inside look back and while you are doing that press your view button again. Now the timer will be gone. But if you want your time registered, you simply go in the car and just look back. The timer will be running again. This code can also be used on any other race to get a very good time. ---------- -GameTips- ---------- Tip 1: ------ If you're finding traffic hard to navigate, get off the road and onto the sidewalk. Most of the vehicles can drive quite nicely on the sidewalks between the guardrails and the lampposts, and you'll find a clear path (this works very well out on Navy Pier). Also, don't worry about crashing into those massive checkpoint posts on the sidewalk--they're invisible (collision-wise) to your vehicle. Tip 2: ------ If you get into a bump-and-grind situation with an AI car, you'll find yourself losing most of the tussles, even if you have the bigger vehicle. The best tactic is to quickly sideswipe the car, and then swerve away. If you time it right, you can bump the car into oncoming traffic or a building. Tip 3: ------ The AI-controlled drivers always stay on the road, which means that you'll have great opportunities to cut a few corners here and there (remember, Chicago has plenty of parks!). When you're off-road driving, slow down a bit and try not to make any turns. If you try anything wild on the soft grass, you'll probably spin out and lose any advantage you might have gained. Tip 4: ------ To win a race, especially a Checkpoint race, you need to know the course. Take on the course in one of the heavier vehicles with no cops and limited traffic, and you'll maximize your chances of making it through the course and learning all of the possible shortcuts. You won't win, but you'll gain vital knowledge that will help you when you go back into the race with a performance vehicle and full obstacles in place. Tip 5: ------ Vehicle damage is your enemy! There are so many things to hit during the course of the race that you'll often find yourself with a wheelless, smoking hulk of a car before you can finish the race.
