A Nightmare on Elm Street 2:
Freddy's Revenge
copyright 1985
I can say that, without question, this is the most implicitly gay movie I have ever seen in my life.  As far as explicitly gay movies, that honor still goes to Top Gun.

Before I talk about all the homosexual themes running through this shitty sequel, I have to lament about the lack of continuity from the first film.  It was my understanding that Freddy Krueger was a janitor killed by a PTA group.   He gets his revenge by entering the dreams of their offspring and killing them while they sleep.  Well, that's not what this movie is at all.  Freddy basically haunts this kid Jesse that has no connection to anything in the first film, and tries to get him to kill people for him.  Krueger enters Jesse's body and is trying to get out in the real world.  Um, ok.  In the end, Freddy leaves Jesse's body and enters the real world to kill a bunch of kids at a pool party.  So, this movie is really just your standard demon posession/ghost story, but with Freddy Krueger playing the ghost.  There isn't a true "nightmare" killing in the flick.  There are only two murders in the film prior to the pool party at the end.  They try to make up for this by having a parrot explode and a toaster catch on fire.  Job well done.  If there's one thing scarier than watching a person get killed, it's a toaster on fire.

Now the gay stuff.  Jesse's a conflicted teenager with something inside him, waiting to come out.  Hmmm.  Does that make Freddy the gay version of Jesse?  The character seems gay enough without having an even gayer part within.  Jesse ends up going to a gay S&M bar in the movie, where he sees his P.E. teacher.  They end up going back to the school gym for some quality shower time, where Freddy snaps the gay coach on his bare ass with a wet towel.  Silly homosexuals.  Then there's a perverse bondage death for gym teacher.  Now, as I said, Jesse is obviously a little light in the loafers even without Freddy's gay red and black sweater and manicured nails.  Jesse seeks absolutely no nookie from his Meryl Streep look-alike girlfriend, Lisa.  She seems ready, willing and able to put out the entire movie.  In one scene it's obvious Jesse's gonna get some, but he runs out of Lisa's house to go sleep in his male friend's bed.

In the end, what kills Freddy and returns Jesse back to normal is Lisa's proclamation of love for her boyfriend.  It's just another case of a woman trying to turn a gay guy straight.  Give it a rest, ladies.

0 out of 5.  One of the worst Nightmare on Elm Street movies, which would put it high in the running for worst movie ever.
