Repo Man
copyright 1984
Years before he ruined his career with that Mighty Ducks crap, Emilio Estevez starred in the cult classic, Repo Man.

Estevez plays Otto, a young punk trying to figure out what to do with his life.  He is recruited by Bud (Harry Dean Stanton) to be a repo man.  Instantly, he is brought into a lattice of coincidence containing characters named after beers, discussions about shrimp, car chases, hypnotic televangelists, government conspiracies, a startling revelation about John Wayne, generic food products, and of course, the Chevy Malibu with aliens in the trunk that everyone is after.

This movie has hilarious dialogue, memorable scenes and great acting.  The characters are insane, from the stupid ass punks to the government agents to the substance abusing repo men.  We get input on Scientology, material objects and spiritual enlightenment.  It's just an immensely bizarre movie that is entertaining and thought provoking.

Lastly, I need to mention the kickass punk soundtrack.  The movie is full of bitchin' songs by Iggy Pop, Black Flag, the Burning Sensations,  the Circle Jerks, and a personal favorite of mine, the Plugz.

4 out of 5.  Repo Man is always intense!!  If you're into weird B-movies, oddball characters, or sharp satire, check this one out.
