Targets is an odd little suspense film. It contains two stories that come together in the end for a great final scene.
Story 1: Boris Karloff plays an aging Horror film star (so basically himself) who is tired of the movie biz. The real life terrors are much worse than anything in his movies and he doesn't see the point anymore. His manager convinces him to make one last publicity stop at a Drive-In that is showing one of his movies.
Story 2: A guy named Bobby Johnson goes insane, picks up an automatic rifle and kills tons of innocent people. The coolest parts of the movie happen when Bobby gets on top of a building, lays down and aims at a highway. He proceeds to shoot dozens of people in their cars as they drive along. These scenes of Bobby shooting people seem to last forever. You just watch his point of view of capping people through the scope of his rifle. It's very entertaining in a sadistic way. In the end, he ends up at the Drive-In that Karloff is at. He gets behind the screen and shoots people as they watch the movie. Can Boris singlehandedly stop this crazy S.O.B?
The film is awesome as you watch all the killings through the scope of Bobby's rifle. Definitely worth checking out if you're a suspense fan, and it won't disappoint the bloodthirsty among you due to its extremely high body count. |
