Angel/Archangel
Real Name: Warren K. Worthington III

Powers:
Warren bassically has the powers to fly by use of the wings that grow from his back. He also has the ability to take in oxygen while flying at great speeds, and his eyes are able to withstand great amounts of air which allow him to keep his eyes open when he fly's.

History: Wings sprouted from out of Warren's shoulder blades while he was attending a private boarding school. Fearful and more than a little concerned about what his peers woul think, Warren hid his wings from others by strapping them down underneath his clothes.

After leaving boarding school, he started a brief stint fighting crime in New York as the Avenging Angel. When Charles Xavier began recruiting young mutants for his School for Gifted Youngsters, his attention was brought to the high-flying mutant. Warren joined the fledgling mutant team as the Angel. During his adventures with the X-Men, Warren formed a long lasting attachment with the beautiful Jean Grey, but alas, his love was not reciprocated. They remain as best friends till now.

When a whole rank of new members came to replace the original members after the Krakoa incident, Warren left the team and founded a Los Angeles based super hero team, the Champions. Around this time, he also had a team with two of his colleagues from the X-Men, the Beast and Ice man, called the Defenders. Staying in semi-retirement, Warren formed a relationship with the beautiful Candy Southern. After this admittedly brief stint away from the X-Men, Warren returned to the School for Gifted Youngsters. His return was short-live as he didn't see eye to eye with the feral Wolverine, a new member of the team.

When Jean Grey returned from the dead, Angel and the original X-Men formed a mutant hunting group called X-Factor, pretending to be an  organization to fight mutants when it was in fact a plan to save them, training new mutants in the use of their powers. During a fatal battle with the Marauders, Angel's wings were impaled by Harpoon and apparently damaged beyond repair. Due to the machinations of Camron Hodge ( a man once thought to be his best friend ), Warren lost his wings by amputation. After this traumatic episode, Warren tried to commit suicide.

Thought to have died, Warren hid from everyone. While in this vulnerable state, he was seized by Apocalypse and tranformed int his Fourth Horseman Known only as Death, possessing lethal, razor-sharp organic metal wings which emitted sharp blade-like feathers and a deep blue-tint to his skin . These blades were tipped with a substance that interfered with the body's neural commands, rendering paralysis. The wings seemed to have sentient thought and helped protect Warren from harm.

At the request of Charles Xavier, the X-Men was reformed and the members of X-Factor returned to the fold. After finding love with a fellow X-Man, Elisabeth Braddock AKA Psylocke, Warren began to accept the reality of his metallic wings and his old self started to resurface. During a battle with the escaped Sabretooth, his metallic wings were severely slashed and damaged, and Warren was afraid that he would lose his wings once again. But he had to much to think about as his love, Psylocke, had also been injured by Sabretooth. Together with his ertshile rival, Wolverine, they managed to save Psylocke's life with the essence of the Crimson Dawn.

The recent Age of Apocalypse Saga showed another side to the Angel. In this otherworld, Warren was shown to be the indulgent, spoiled rich playboy that he originally was, running an exclusive nightclub catering only to the mutant elite Heaven. He played both sides of the fence, helping both Apocalypse and occasionally Magneto always with an eye for profit. But Warren sort of redeemed himself at the end by helping the X-Men defeat Apocalypse.

Coming after the Onslaught, Warren's metal wings fell apart and shattered, revealing his original feathered wings underneath. Though he is overjoyed to receive his original wings again, he is troubled by the reason for the return, whether it is just part of a natural evolution of his mutant powers or just another Apocalypse's dire plots?
