THE WOUNDED SOLDIER PROJECT
This project was started to support the wounded soldiers that are arriving at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA.  Some of the wounded soldiers arrive there with only the clothes they are wearing.  The wounded soldiers leave the war zone so quickly on their way to Landstuhl Army Medical Center in Germany, many without their personal belongings.  Many of the soldiers only stay at Landstuhl for a very short period of time before coming back to the United States.  As most of you know some of the more seriously wounded stay at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC but the majority of them are sent to the Medical Installation closest to either their home or home unit.

The goal of this project is to provide a backpack filled with comfort items and some other good items to every wounded soldier arriving at Madigan Army Medical Center that is in need due to having no personal belonging with him/her.

This project was started in March 2005 and to date it has been able to deliver 138 backpacks to the wounded soldiers at Madigan Army Medical Center and the VA Hospital in Seattle, Washington.

As of June 2007 we have two Bridages from Fort Lewis in Iraq so Madigan is in need of about 10 backpacks per month.
