The Felpoolian Child
An SO2 fanfic by Snow Moon

Note: I haven't played the first Star Ocean game, but something is
wrong to me about Leon being a Felpool and having two human parents.
Also, his parents act kinda strange. After the Lacour Hope thing, they
both just said, "Thank you for saving us, Leon." It didn't sound
quite... natural. Thusly: A fic. Forsooth, dude.

It was a warm Autumn afternoon when I found him.
He was wrapped in a white blanket beneath a large oak tree in the
palace garden. I never would have found him if he hadn't been crying,
as I usually don't walk that way.
I went to the child and picked him up. He was an adorable little
thing, no more than three months old. But something was different
about him. He had the ears of a cat.
I was a bit shocked. Up until noticing this, I had been wondering
where his mother and father were. But when I saw those ears, I
immediately knew he had been abandoned.
Getting over my surprise, I held the crying child closer and
comforted him. He stopped crying, and a soft rumble came from deep in
his throat.
I smiled. He was such a sweet child. My husband and I hadn't had any
kids yet, we were both scientists and were far too busy for a family
just yet.
At that moment, I had a realization. This baby was a sign. He had
come to me for a reason. I decided to raise him to be the best and
brightest scientist the world had ever known.
Something told me that he would be the world's savior one day.
I decided to name him after my grandfather, who had been a brilliant
scientist in his youth.
Leon. Leon Geeste. It was perfect...
It's been thirteen years since that day, and my Leon has grown into
a fine young man. My prophecy has come true, as well-- he has saved us
all.
   Thank you, Leon. My son.
