SKILLS Illustration and Graphic design computer generated art. My daily duties and scope are to plan, research designs and develop visual aid materials based on customers objectives for course development projects. Course development includes books and computer graphics. I draw freehand, and computer generate art to provide a wide range of depictions such as objects, culturally authentic people, buildings and landscapes and spatial relationships. I have also created special flyers and brochures to include course announcements, signs, and book cover designs etc. I also have a working knowledge of various software. Such software includes, Corel Draw 12, Corel Photo Paint, Microsoft Word, Quark XPress, Adobe In Design, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and I operate a scanner using and HP Scan-jet. Other duties include lamination of maps, posters, and other visual aids used in the classrooms. I do mat cutting, and mount photos for framing. II also privide training in Adobe In Design at my place of employment.
WORK EXPERIENCE July 2, 96 to Present. 40 hours per week. Illustration and Graphic Design. Permanent employee, Curriculum Development Division at the Defense Language Institute.
Since March 1990 I have worked as a freelance illustrator for various clients, but predominantly for CREATIVE WITH WORDS PUBLICATIONS (P.O. Box 223226, Carmel, CA 93922). During this period I have prepared hundreds of illustrations of book covers, stories, essays and poems for publication, working 10 -15 hours a week on the average. These drawings are usually rendered in ink or graphite. My charitable contribution to this company is on going.
Between February 1982 and November 1984, I prepared illustrations on a regular basis (10 hours/week) for the Carmel Valley based and nationally known sculptor, Harvey Shapiro. Using scaled down models, I prepared renderings of his work in various landscapes which he used to present his sculptures to potential buyers and sellers. All drawings were prepared in ink.
EDUCATION Graduate of Monterey Peninsula College as a Graphic Artists . I continue to up grade my computer graphics skills. In addition to my Graphic Arts degree I have an A. A., in Fine Arts, from Monterey Peninsula College, Monterey, CA 93940. Other Schools I have atteded are, Milwaukee Area Technical College, 1976-82, Commercial Art, Milwaukee, WI 53202 No degree, Layton School of Art and Design, 1974-75, Fine Art, Milwaukee, WI 53202. No degree.
TRAINING At Monterey Peninsula College, Design using Adobe Illustrator, Digital imaging using Adobe Photoshop, and Desk top Publishing using Quark Xpress. At the Pacific Grove Adult School, Corel Draw 7, Microsoft Word 7.0, Intermediate Word, and Powerpoint. At Mentor Training in San Jose, Ca, Page Maker 6.5 Level one. Monterey Peninsula Unified School District Regional Occupational Program, Computer Graphics/Desktop Publishing, and Regional Occupational Program, Multi-Media/Graphics. On the job training in Asymetrix 3DF/X. Self trained and online training through Lynda.com and VTC.com with Adobe In Design. |
