Become One

Why? I ask.

Why hatred surpasses?

This question lives on

Through our lives And through our grief

Why so much hatred?

Why so much anguished?

Can't we all make peace?

Can't we all live in peace?

If one could do this...

Then the other shall follow

If everyone unites

Then there's hope for tomorrow.

Now the time has come

For us to unite and become one

Let us all commence

And we'll enter upon a new home.

about the author: Let's just start from here...yes, I am Caroline and I go by the nick "caL."

about the poem: Become One is very timely with regards to the WTC attacks. It speaks of
peace and unity which we should exhibit especially now.

Spring Love

The black smoke rises from the pan,
you smile and whisper that I will make a good wife.
Scrambled eggs with thousand island dressing
and oven-baken tortillas from the grocery.
You wince and eat the food all the same.
I don't mind you not liking breakfast
but that's all I have. Please leave soon-
your fiancee may wonder at
the sudden sweetness of your smile.

Your belly's a beer barrel's paradise- warmth in the cold night.
Your skin shines like moonlight and breath- the beat of my heart.
I notice a little mole under your armpit and
you try to peer with all your might. I laugh.
You shimmer among a million scattered dreams
and the haze arrives as you hold me in your arms.

I know there will never be another man like you.
And you, with a serious look, tell me I am your only Spring-
beauty with eyes of a doe and smiles of butterflies.
I worry about her but you just hold me in your arms.
For now, hush,
let the Spring be savored and our woes be gone-
two souls in a field of tulips and the smell of cut grass.

alive

i have lived long enough
but i never felt alive
for even a millisecond

and then you saw me
helpless in the dark
hugging myself tight

your light opened my eyes
i come rushing to you
but my feet are strangled with thorns

as i crawl towards you
struggling the craters
scars remain numb of the pain

i need you
to help me get out
and feel alive

but you're so far
and all you can do
is look into my eyes

reach out my hand
carry me like a baby
and never let me go

coz you're all i need
to make me feel
that there is life
and i am alive

untitled

looking at the misty sky

when a new day is dawning

remembering the shadows of the past

through the promising sparkle of the sun

yesterday is not gone still it lingers on

how can i be sure what tomorrow brings

asking for some more, craving

not knowing the essence of life

everything is dim until a bright softly light shone

piercing every bit of me

waking me up from a foolish dream

now i can see, now i can hear

now i can feel, now i can stand

now i can say...

you have lighted my life

Salt in an open wound

Soon this rain will wash this night away

And there will be no reason for us to stay

Because life is an open door

Wish we have an extra hour or more

Im so confuse and Im all bent

coz you know i love you but i can't

we still have some dreams to find

now get me out of your mind

Memories we kept under glass

like ten thousand conversations after class

These feelings we both know

Are free chances we have to let go

For tomorrow we will be gone for good

...it's a salt in an open wound.

juliet

it was like romeo and juliet

when our eyes broke the silence of naive masks

there was a pause...a second look

it was like excitement that should not have been

or was it only me?

the touch of electricity in my palm

infused vigor to my stagnant blood

the innocence is now gone

seconds ran as if time moved on its own

you embraced me with your eyes

i want to hold the moment

i want to keep you

coz it was like romeo and juliet

but romeo is juliet too.

In Sanity

flooded and drained
words against numbers
give me a good reason
to stay in this room

as much as i want to
to escape from absurdity
i could never give up
this sanctuary of doom

mix of noise and silence
vague understanding
tell me i can survive
this drowning abstraction

forces of nature
pull of gravity
the mass of uncertainty
leaves no comprehension

start the countdown
blur reality
kill the lights
and burn the eyes

keep me sane. . .

God Had You in Mind

I know God must have had you in mind,
When He threw stars across the sky;
For I can see them twinkling there,
When I look into your eyes.

I know He had to be thinking of you,
When He made the moon and the sun;
For He knew they would shine for you,
As if you were the only one.

I know when He made the mountains,
Formed flowers and mountain dew;
When He looked at the splendor of all He'd done,
I know He was thinking of you.
When He created humanity,
You were there on His mind;
Lookin' across generations,
That you would be one of a kind.

I know when the very first laughter,
Spilled forth from that wondrous place;
God knew one day He would hear you laugh too,
And a smile spread across His face.
I know for a fact you were on His mind,
When He gave His only Son;
For He knew that He would die for you,
As if you were the only one.

I know God must have had you in mind,
Looking down from Heaven above;
For He knew someday I would need someone,
And He sent you for me to love.
