A Chapter of Women On Wheels®

Last Months Meeting

April 21, 2001
As Planned, we all met on the corner of Rts. 176 & 14 in Crystal Lake at 8:30 a.m. to begin our ride to Starved Rock, where we were scheduled to meet the Northwind Riders for lunch.

In attendance were: Lynda and Ralph DiGregor, Maxine Smith and Dave, Marge and David Thiessen, and Suzanne Palm.

It was quite cloudy and windy but a nice ride nevertheless. Thank you to Marge and David Theissen for coordinating this ride and guiding us!

We missed the company of several women from the group, but we hope they can make it to next month’s gathering for a fun After-Meeting-Ride to Mukwonago, Wisconsin.

Red Hawk Riders'
2-Day Ride to Galena, IL

July 14 & 15
Here’s the plan: Meet at 8:00 a.m. (place TBD) all gassed up and ready to go. We’ll take a scenic route on our way to Chestnut Mountain where we will enjoy a nice, leisurely lunch.

Next, we can check out the Alpine sled for kicks and then take Blackjack Road to Galena. Once in Galena, we can stroll the streets, visit the shoppes, or take in the historic sites for an hour or two before stopping for dinner. We will overnight at the Dubuque Super 8.

We’ll start the next morning with breakfast, then head towards home via the scenic Stagecoach Trail, stopping in Rockford for lunch. A block of eight (non-smoking) rooms has been reserved for the night of July 14 at the Dubuque Super 8 motel at 2730 Dodge St. (about 12 miles west of Galena) at a group rate of about $60/double occupancy. If you’re interested in one of these rooms, call the motel directly at (319) 582-8898. Any rooms not reserved by July 1 will be released. You may cancel your reservation by 4:00 p.m. on the day of arrival.
