Sea and Sydney
Welcome to the D. H. Lawrence Society of Australia's Cruise on Sydney Harbour
By John Lacey
On Sunday December 9, 2001 members and friends met for their cruise of Sydney Harbour on board the 1902 Steam yacht, Lady Hopetoun. The weather had been hot, with a violent storm on the previous Monday, following temperatures as high as 39c, and winds had reached 175 kmh.
The unsettled weather continued, and this meant that on the day of the cruise, wind and wave conditions prevented us from reaching our intended destinations.
This was indeed a shame for on board as a special guest was noted author Gavin Souter, who was going to act as a guide to the secret places of Middle Harbour.
But still, it was a very pleasant cruise of the Main Harbour and the Lane Cove River. Click on the button below for the photos.
