IT WAS ALL WORTH IT
Today’s Scripture: Acts 11:19-24
Today’s Verse: “When he arrived and saw the evidence of the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts. “ – Acts 11:23 (NIV)
It had been a hard senior year in college. I had fought constantly with my parents, who disapproved of my faith and of the decisions I was making because of my faith. My peers were celebrating cushy jobs and signing bonuses, while I hung my hopes on a local non-profit that might not have enough money to offer me the low-paying position that I had wanted all year. As my four years wound down, I wondered aloud: Was it all worth it?
At the end of the year, my Christian fellowship came together to honor its graduating seniors. Encouraging words were given, stories fondly remembered, and prayers offered. That gathering was a significant one for me. Student after student shared that they were thankful that I had taken the time to minister to them, that they had experienced something of God’s grace through my life, even through my many struggles.
I was overcome with tears. Through it all, God was at work in my life. And that made it all worth it.
