LIFE AS SOME OF US SEE IT
How can you know what love is, if your mother has never sown your rugby shirt despite suffering each time she sees you get into a rugby field?
How can you know what pain is, if you've never been tackled so hard you couldn't tie your shoe laces for a month?
How can you know what pleasure is, if you've never won a derby (any match against HC) in a muddy field?
How can you know what crying is, if you've never lost a final on the last minute with a doubtfull penalty?
How can you know what caring is, if you've never caresed "the oval ball" without noticing it, while you were listening to your coach giving instructions?
How can you know what solidarity is, if you've never gotten yourself kicked out of a game for defending a teammate being hit defenseless on the flour?
How can you know what poetry is, if you've never made a drop goal under pressure?
How can you know what humiliation is, if you've never suffered a chip kick which you never got to?
How can you know what heaven is, if you never celebrated with a lap around the field an a dip into the pool (that how champions celebrate in Argentina!)?
How can you know what panic is, if you were never caught unprepared in a counteratack?
How can you know what dying a little is, if you've never gone to get the ball behind your big H?
How can you know what loneliness is, if you've never been caught as fullback trying to stop a bunch of people willing to destroy all your hopes?
How can you know what mud is, if you've never dived under somebody's feet to prevent a try?
How can you know what selfishness is, if you've never held the ball too long when you had your winger beside you free of any mark?
How can you know what sacrifice is, if you've never trained in winter under freezing rain after working all day long?
How can you know what art is, if you've never improvised a move?
How can you know what a suburb is, if you've never stood as a winger?
How can you know what unconditional service is, if you've never been a forward?
How can you know what injustice is, if you've never been kicked out by a referee who was 50 yards away from the play?
How can you know what insomnia is, if you've never fallen on the standings?
How can you know what forgiving is, if you've never gotten drunk with the guy that sent you to the hospital earlier that day?
How can you know what courage is, if you've never turned around an impossible game?
How can you know what friendship is, if you've never experienced a drink up?
How can you know what LIFE IS, if you've never, ever,....played RUGBY?!!! |
