Hulk Hogan

Hogan moved to WCW in 1994, and made his debut at Bash At The Beach. He beat Ric Flair for the WCW title and the buy-rate went through the roof, smashing the WWF's awful King Of The Ring effort a month earlier. Just like in 1984, Hogan changed WCW's prospects and made them a key player.

Soon, Hogan was joined by Earthquake, The Honky Tonk Man, and a host of former WWF stars. By 1996, however, WCW had realised that it wasn't the way forward to turn the company into a WWF re-run. So Eric Bischoff signed Kevin Nash and Scott Hall (Diesel and Razor Ramon from the WWF), and came up with the idea of The New World Order (NWO).

Looking like they were representing the WWF, Hall and Nash "invaded" many WCW shows, before announcing that they had a partner to fight off Team WCW (Sting, Lex Luger and Macho Man) at Bash At The Beach. To the horror of all, the "third man" was Hogan! By leg-dropping Savage three times, and alligning himself with these "outsiders", Hogan had turned his back on WCW and all its fans.

Hogan once again had changed the face of professional wrestling. The NWO era was easily WCW's most entertaining and profitable business run. Gone were the trademark yellow and red colours, Hogan now dressed in black. During the NWO run, WCW beat the WWF in the ratings war for 18 months!

Hogan also raised some more world titles, and DROPPED some of them to Lex Luger and Goldberg (seems he's not so selfish after all). In 1998, however, the WWF drew level again and eventually took over with their new "attitude". Hogan took a short break, and announced he was going for Presidency (this turned out to be a clever and calculated publicity stunt).
